Exceptional - 5.0 out of 5

Denise C, Nottingham, visiting O2 Academy Leeds Tue, 30 June 2015

When I booked the hotel I was booking blind - I was looking for an ideal location for the arena as well as somewhere convenient for the evening and close to the centre for shopping. When we arrived just from the location, the fact that we didn't have to walk miles with suitcases from the car park, even not having to walk outside was a bonus. The staff were fab, as we had arrived early we had a choice of rooms to choose from which was great, and when we walked into the room, I was blown away by the size, decor, cleanliness and style of the room. It was more than we expected. I was a little doubtful of paying for the breakfast but so glad that we did. Again food and service second to none, food freshly prepared to order. I honestly couldn't find a negative, and will definitely go back.

Liked: Great location.

Stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms, as a free upgrade - how lovely! Everything was wonderful! Slept like a log on one of the comfiest beds ever ( I want one!). Parking is nearby, all shops within walking distance. Staff at reception were very helpful, breakfast was plentiful. No complaints!

Liked: Stunning.

Lovely hotel, excellent location. Nothing bad to say, except breakfast is a rip off £15. Wetherspoons round the corner - get 2 for a tenner with coffee.

Liked: Everything.
Disliked: None.

Great location but disappointing facilities

Liked: Our first impression was great, location is fantastic and we received a room upgrade upon check-in as we were travelling for our anniversary. Parking was very conveniently located, although quite expensive. The room had a faulty bath plug, faulty plug sockets and the phone wasn’t working. We informed staff at reception about these issues when we left the room for the day and when we returned after a very long day out found that our room cards weren’t working anymore.Staff at reception seemed overwhelmed when we asked for new room cards and we were forced to wait a good 15 minutes for a manager to talk to us and issue new room cards - even this was a struggle because they tried to turn us away saying they had no rooms available for us to stay in when we very clearly had a room and have just been locked out after someone went to our room to fix the bath plug. The second night of our stay we decided to order room service, but due to the broken phone had to go down to the bar to order food. We ordered 2 pizzas at £14 each and even offered to wait downstairs for the pizzas since we were already there anyway but were assured that they were happy to bring the pizzas to our room. Once the food arrived we were charged a £5 delivery charge for each pizza!! First of all, there was no mention of a delivery fee on the menu, nor did they tell us when we ordered the pizzas in person and offered to wait for them. And then charging £5 per pizza was absolutely ridiculous, especially considering that the pizza tasted no different than a frozen Chicago town pizza. On top of all this there were a lot of insects in our room, especially in the bathroom, from moths to small creepy crawlers. Our window opened to the Light Shopping Centre, so we’re not sure why there were so many bugs in the room, but one of the windows also didn’t close so we were woken up by noise from the shopping centre every morning. There were also some cigarette butts on the window sill.
