Never again!

Liked: Cheap
Disliked: The property is run down! The water in the shower fluctuates between freezing and boiling without touching it, it actually burnt my skin. I had my van broken into outside the property, £7000 worth of tools stolen, the hotel staff wouldn’t call the police from the reception, I was simply told it wasn’t their problem. I understand that they aren’t responsible for the theft of my tools, but you’d think they would try and be more helpful and understanding under the circumstances.

No heat,No hot water,No tea...

Liked: Nothing went well.
Disliked: The reception was cold. so were all the communal areas. We had to walk through dark rooms and staircases to find our room 300 . Inside it was very cold with stained carpets. and a tatty chair, the radiators were not working. there was an electric radiator on the wall that I could not turn on. I complained to reception and two electric radiators were brought to the room, The dining room was too cold to eat in so we left the hotel and went into town hoping the room would be warmer on our return. It was ,but there was NO hot water!! I was told a plumber was working on it and nothing could be done until the morning. I was handed a refund form and told to fill it in.I returned to the room only to find there was No loo roll! I reported it to reception and was promptly handed one from underneath the desk. so I had to walk through the hotel carrying a loo roll. In the morning we discovered there were No tea bags and still No Hot Water!! I was told the plumber was coming at 9 o'clock but they did not know when the water would be hot , The dining room was very cold and dark so we decided to forgo the breakfast experience and eat it in town .On return I spoke with the Duty Manager who assured me the he was on the case and he would forward the form that very day and see what compensation I might receive. That was on Tuesday.I heard nothing from them since so I phoned today (Friday) And was told a manager would phone or email me . Nothing so far. And the email address they provided me with is Undeliverable!! All in all just about the worst hotel ever.

You get what you pay...

Liked: The room was a decent size, the bed was comfy enough and the blackout curtains worked a treat.
Disliked: Shower head desperately needs descaling, not that I could have a shower as the water was so cold.Decor was ok but fixtures and fitting are worn and dated - especially in the bathroom where bath side was hanging off, paint was peeling off woodwork and silicone was coming away.Room didn’t seem to have heating but was a mild night so ok however, I could only manage a quick bowl of cereal for breakfast as the breakfast room was absolutely freezing and I couldn’t sit there for more than 5 minutes.

Absolutely awful, worst one night...

Liked: Nice place outside but awful inside, old and dirty and freezing cold
Disliked: Water cold, room 201, bed awful mattress awfulroom freezing cold for the full stay tried to put heater on but didn’t work, ten mins to order a drink and food, another 15 mins for the pitza, as there was only one person on reception and serving the bar , he also went off with another client to sort his water out and left another customer waiting over 20 mins for a drink, the full experience was diabolical , will never visit again or recommend , at £64 it wasn’t even worth it , and again I have never seen customers sat in a bar and restaurant with big coats and scarfs on ??? , it was freezing cold ,

Lack of management. Lack of...

Liked: The exit. Leaving. The venue has some much potential. It’s sad to see it in such a state.
Disliked: When I arrived with another couple, we were both given the choice. “Would you like the peaceful room or would you like the noisy room?”(We chose the noisy room out of respect for the other couple). After dinner we returned back to the hotel, where a quick comment about a random room number was enough for the nightwatchman to let us through the tight security. We then headed to bed where at 1am we became aware as to why it was the noisy room. The bellowing of the snoring man in the room next door, and the nightwatchman and janitor seemingly having a conversation to see who could speak the loudest made it clear. In the morning we had no water running through our taps, and our shower (after running for 10 minutes) had water coming out so cold that it would give an Eskimo a stiffy. We then went downstairs for our cooked breakfast where we were provided with a tea and coffee station that an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting would be proud of. After speaking with other guests, we all had the same consensus. This was the furthest thing from a hotel and much more like a halfway house. We were pointed to take a seat at a dirty table with previously used dishes. We asked the waiter to please clean the table and he used the dirty napkin off of one of the plates on the table to wipe the table down. The waiter took my breakfast order and returned with a sausage missing, upon pointing the error out, I was informed that “we only provide you with one”. He then informed another guest that “Sausage was no longer available”. We ate what we could and could not wait to leave. This is not a complaint on the staff members that we encountered. They are a product of their environment. This is a complaint on the lack of management, lack of attention to detail, and overall lack of customer care and service from the operating owners. They need to do better. The establishment has loads of potential.

My last stay here

Liked: The hotel has a lot of potential, and lovely grounds.
Disliked: The hotel failed to provide toiletries in a usable format, and tried to give me shower gel in a cup. The shower did not work, and there was no hot water from early in the morning. Breakfast service took aver half an hour for a simple English breakfast.

I’d love to see better...

Liked: Quaint hotel with loads of potential in a beautiful property
Disliked: Very dated rooms. Really bad pillows. Good mattress. Very poor breakfast - scrambled eggs were dry and we waited over half an hour for our cooked breakfast. One pleasant but ineffective waiter.

Fawlty Towers exists in Quorn!

Liked: Location
Disliked: Slow, non attentive staff. Especially in the restaurant for breakfast where you can actually see your own breath whilst waiting forever for your meagre breakfast…it’s that cold!
