Some short of okay

Liked: The Location
Disliked: The Bedroom which was too small and the bathroom was not very secure as it didn’t have shower room and having a shower in bath tub is very slippery, dangerous and unsafe. Tub mat was too big to get the grip to bath tub surface which caused sudden slips which could result in fatal injuries.

Lovely short break away in...

Liked: Lovely hotel not far from the main attractions in Portsmouth such as HMS Victory, Plymouth Historic Dockyard and the Naval Museum. Large car park and plenty of parking available. There are plenty of places to eat and drink just a short walk away if you didn't want to partake of the fayre offered in the hotel. The hotel staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was enormous, ovelooking the gardens and had a sea view although it was very stormy the weekend we visited so we had to look at it from afar. The room itself was vey clean and even had its own Christmas tree! The bathroom, although it didn't have a bath, was very big and suited our needs nonetheless. The bed was a king size and very comfortable and the nights were quiet with little noise heard from other guests even though for 2 of the nights we stayed there were Christmas parties going on in the hotel and also in the large marquee in the grounds and we had very little disturbance from any of them. Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel.
Disliked: Beig a hotel you will be paying top prices for food and drink. The evening menu was a bit limited but well cooked and presented. We took our own breakfast cereal which we had in our room as we weren't prepared to spend £18 each for breakfast per day. The room was cold when we arrived but there was radiator heating available. The view was spoilt by the large marquee in the grounds which had Christmas Parties on for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This was pointed out to us when we checked in by the reception staff and we were given the option to change rooms if it became a problem. Thankfully the music wasn't too loud and the parties finished at 12am and after there was very little noise heard aprtr from the odd reveller who happened to be staying in the hotel being a bit noisy.

As we were moved to...

Liked: Customer service, especially 'Tilly' on reception.Staff were all very courteous. Decor of the mail reception area, although felt cold, so unwelcoming.Decor of restaurant, bar, communal areas and second bedroom
Disliked: Our bedroom, which was a twin with Seaview. ( did have a sea view )The room and bathroom were shabby, cheap wobbly furniture, extremely narrow beds and very cold. They provide a plug in heater but the actual radiator in our room didn't work,it was one of the coldest, windiest days of the year and you would have expected the room to be warm and welcoming for visitors

Room was more like an...

Liked: Historic hotel in good location, lovely bar and restaurant areas, food was ok too.
Disliked: Room was really poor, bathroom was shabby, windows were drafty especially the bathroom one which didn’t close properly. Heating wasn’t very good at all, and the shower was a clip on thing with mixer taps that were quite possibly from the 1970s, lol.
