Helped make Aachen a memorable...

Liked: This is an excellent hotel. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable and capacious. Staff ware very helpful and made us extremely welcome. The building retains the ambiance of its early 20th century origin but has been maintained to a high standard and provides the expected facilities of a modern hotel. Although our room at the front was facing a busy road, we heard no sound of traffic. We had dinner in the restaurant and our meals were excellent, as was the breakfast next morning. The hotel is conveniently placed to walk to the centre of Aachen which is about ten minutes away.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: Very nice relaxing spa area with pool and saunas.
Disliked: The hotel corridors have an odd decor which reminded me more of a hospital.

Lovely city, and a good...

Liked: Good food, helpful staff, very comfortable room. The location is fairly close to the centre of town and an easy walk.
Disliked: We really couldn't fault the hotel as a whole. The only disappointment was the parking. We booked this hotel because it advertises itself with parking, however when we arrived we were advised that the carpark was full and we had to park in a public carpark, which was nearby. It would have been nice to know before we arrived.

Slightly faded opulence

Liked: Room was comfortable, plumbing was fine. Breakfast was a reasonable buffet but in a very poorly lit room and a little overpriced for what was on offer.
Disliked: On the morning I was due to depart (check out time being 1200) the same cleaner kept knocking on my door to see if I had left yet so she could clean the room, even though I told her "I am checking out later". She came at least three times between 0920 and 1125, and possibly more times too when I was at breakfast. I had a four hour drive ahead of me and was trying to relax and make the most of having the room until noon, but she was clearly not prepared to leave me in peace, so I gave up after her 1125 visit and checked out early.

Disliked: Breakfast options are poor. The quality of food is below average. There's no room service. In fact, the room is empty, there are no snacks, welcome amenities, and the fridge is empty...We opt to cancel the remainder of our stay and go somewhere else.
