Superb

Family Xmas break.

Liked: Location and size.
Disliked: Would have been nice if staff had explained what is available at hotel and where located. When booked was a bit rushed and a case of here is your keys.

Poor

Looks good on surface but...

Liked: Very grand looking. Location. Food.
Disliked: On the surface it’s very grand but close inspection shows many short comings. The whole building needs a lot of attention. My room had sharp loose tiles in shower, a broken blind, peeling paintwork, water stains on ceiling and damaged woodwork throughout. Some of these were reflected in other parts of the building. The bars serving the wedding were poorly stocked and staffed, Malibu given for Bacardi, at the reception when the orange juice ran out I was told to get some from a bar (at the per head rate being paid I would expect the staff to replenish stock not me!).As a wedding venue it was part of a fabulous day but as a “normal hotel” it was over priced, over rated and over starred.

Friendly staff but terrible room

Liked: Staff were wonderful, allowed us to check in early and out an hour later. very friendly. Beautiful downstairs setting
Disliked: The room was very old, small with minimal lighting . The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Having stayed in a number of 4 and 5 star hotels , I was shocked with how poorly lit and decorated the room was, but the bed was the worst part as we got a terrible sleep. Such a shame as it was a new years eve treat and was very pricey for what we got.

I enjoyed my stay due...

Liked: Beautiful building. Friendly helpful staff , great location. Bed was unbeatable, so comfortable! Nice quiet room.
Disliked: Had to pay £19 to park when I'd already paid £335 for a room. No bathrobes in room, tv wouldn't work, telephone didn't work either, not as luxury as I'd expected for the price , shower water was cold and lost water pressure if you tried to make the temperature warmer.

Liked: The lounge area is beautifully decorated, comfortable and very pleasant to sit, read a paper have a coffee etcThe free standing bath was great with lots of hot waterThe bed was comfortable The staff were mainly very pleasantGood location right next to the station
Disliked: The bedroom was quite small, cramped with furniture, making it awkward to get to the tea/coffee making tray, cheap biscuits on offer. There was a broken door handle on the wardrobe , split shower hose and cheap thin bedding, pillows smelt stale, no dressing robes or slippers.The breakfast was poor, no coffee machine just filter coffee in flasks, self service. For what we paid it was not value for money.
