Dirty, expensive , cooked food...

Liked: The location was near to some restaurants to eat and The Polynesian Thermal Pools.
Disliked: I am from this country , this property unfortunately has been taken over by people who have promoted it very highly but not providing the services we expect for the room rate. The room : one window was completely jammed we could not open or close it. Curtains partly fallen off. The air conditioner unit had a horrible stain dripping down the wall. Draws in bathroom old and worn out. The breakfast was cold and cost $30 each. I complained as all the cooked food which is meant to be hot was cold, also the croissants on the buffet were not fresh. Very disappointing for the room rate of NZ$342.00 ? I told the Chinese Lady at reception about this, and also that New Zealand people are honest and take offence to this type of behaviour in their country. I would not recommend this property , better off in a motel unit or other hotel with proper service. This place looks like been taken over by Chinese. I want my breakfast refunded as couldn't eat anything much.

Charm of and Time Lost

Liked: Location. Room apartment, 2 bedroom and a kitchenette fabulous
Disliked: Stayed here 5 yrs ago it was beautifully appointed, with well trained staff which was indicated in the room rate charged. Unfortunately, but now the building needs maintenance but staff were very friendly and helpful. Younger staff members however, need training on bar work. Our toilet in bathroom needs replacing very tired looking. We noted a transition change of hands to soon become a Copthorne Hotel. Parking fines are a problem if you are not aware and park outside front of hotel during the week.

Best Choice for Travellers and...

Liked: The 2 bedroom suite with living room and kitchenette worked very well for us. Location with free parking is close to the lake, restaurants and shopping. Can walk everywhere. The hotel has historical significance as well. Only 10-15 minutes drive to all of the outdoor parks, geothermal and cultural sites and adventures in the area.
Disliked: Breakfast buffet was mediocre at best.

Superb

Liked: A beautiful old building, with modern rooms and bathrooms. If you dont want to go out for dinner, there is a restaurant in the hotel. I enjoyed the lamb, the steak and a good NZ red wine.
