I will definitely stay here...
Liked: This was a beautiful hotel surrounded by Richmond Park- the views were breathtaking and it was a short walk to the downtown area. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating! The food at the hotel was excellent and I appreciated that they had non alcoholic beer and champagne.
Disliked: Only thing that could have been better was the water temperature in the shower- would prefer it hotter

Appalling! Stay anywhere else if...
Liked: Location and Rooms were of a good size and clean.
Disliked: Decided to try The Petersham, as was a good price difference for a 3-night stay from The Richmond Hill an. On arrival and hungry, decided to eat in the Restaurant. Restarurant closed! (despite hyped marketing in Hotel booklet about the quality of the head Chef). Instead all guests were herded into a tiny quarter of the Restaurant around small tables. We could order from the Bar Menu only. £22 later for a burger even McDonald's could muster as well. Some guests were even ushered to outdoor tables (In October!) with the vast space of the Restaurant empty and out of bounds. The room comfortable, but at around mid-night I was woken by the sound of someone repeatedly opening and closing a room door down the corridor - this must have happened 20 times. The doors are substantial and very noisy. This continued until 3.30am when I could no longer tolerate being kept awake and called reception. Guests returning late/faulty door, who knows?. The third night the Phantom door opener returned at 4am. I called reception again and was advised there was someone wondering around the lobby area and hopefully he would return to his room. He did, but was now making even more noise. I managed to see him and complained he was keeping the whole floor awake by opening and shutting his door repeatedly. He was a large very scruffy looking chap with a ruck-sack and had a vacant expression. On checking out I was not asked 'how was your stay' by reception (I wonder why?), but noticed the Hotel tried to charge me £6 per day 'optional' service charge, presumably for employing someone to open room doors in the early hours each night? When I complained I was met with utter distain from reception - no eye contact and no apology - in fact silence. Utterly terrible service. I also spotted our scruffy door slammer wondering around in reception! No idea what is going on with this Hotel, but will never stay here again.
