Good hotel for the money

My stay at Pentland Hotel...

Liked: My recent stay at Pentland Hotel provided a generally comfortable experience, with notable strengths in room quality and connectivity, though there were some areas for improvement, particularly with the buffet breakfast.The hotel room was well-maintained and offered a comfortable setting for the duration of my stay. The bed was cozy, with high-quality linens and pillows that allowed for a restful night’s sleep. The room featured modern amenities, including a flat-screen TV, and a spacious work desk.One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s Wi-Fi, which was fast, reliable, and accessible throughout the property. It allowed me to work efficiently. Connectivity was a crucial aspect of my stay.
Disliked: The buffet breakfast, while convenient, was a bit underwhelming. The variety of options was somewhat limited compared to other hotels in the same price range. The selection included typical breakfast staples such as scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, pastries, and fruit, but nothing stood out as exceptional. The hot items were average in taste and quality, and the pastries, though fresh, were not as flavourful as I had hoped. The coffee, however, was decent and provided a good start to the day. Overall, the breakfast was adequate but did not offer a particularly memorable experience.

Great hotel for a stopover...

Liked: Very comfortable room that was very quiet at night. All the staff were super friendly and only too pleased to help. Decent breakfast in the morning

Liked: A charming old hotel. Five minutes from the Stromness ferry. Terrific, friendly staff at reception, bar and restaurant. Good food for breakfast and evening meal (Try the pie!). We have booked again on our return from Orkney.

Comfortable stay - happy to...

Liked: Clean and tidy rooms. Pleasant staff. Decor is a little dated but everything worked and the room was very comfortable. I would not hesitate to book again. The food was also very good - excellent evening meal and breakfast.
Disliked: As noted above, it is dated and a bit tired looking. For example, there is lots of dark wood rather than the lighter, brighter colours you get in more modern hotels. But on balance I don’t think this really matters - comfort and service are more important and the Pentland scores highly on both.
