Gorgeous hotel for a special...
Liked: The property is beautiful. The interiors are stunning, and the rooftop pool / view is worth the stay alone.I booked a “Sunset King Room” and we were on the 7th floor, so our view was basically right opposite the comedy club. Mostly though we were looking the hotel opposite. I wish in hindsight I’d booked a room on the other side of the hotel, as I caught a glimpse of their view and it’s the whole of LA and absolutely stunning. I was gutted actually because I mostly booked this for the view and the pictures provided on the website don’t really help you choose the best one. I’d say for the best view you want the opposite of the sunset view room and at least floor 4 or 5 (anything lower your view may be obstructed). The rooftop pool is beautiful and the view is amazing! We stayed in Feb so it was quiet, but I expect you’d struggle to get a bed in the summer. They said the pool was heated but judging by the colour of my boyfriend’s balls when he got out I’d say it definitely wasn’t.We had a drink in the bar before last orders and it was really cosy and nice. All the staff we spoke to were SUPER friendly and helpful. We don’t often stay in places this nice (it was a special treat) so I assume this is normal but wanted to call it out anyway
Disliked: Probably my own fault, but it was the only hotel we booked in LA through booking.com that I guess didn’t include all the taxes in the price - so at check out we were charged another $200 roughly which was a bit of a sting. Lots of room taxes, tourism taxes, something called an “Amenity fee” which was $40 and I don’t know what it was. Also, and again we don’t often stay in pricey places so maybe this is the norm, but we also stayed in a pretty cheap hotel in Santa Monica before this stay and were given 2 bottles of water, 2 soft drinks and a “s’mores kit” to use on their outdoor fire all complimentary. At the Pendry we got a bottle of water and that was all. Even the soaps / shampoos had a sign on saying we’d be charged if they were taken. Just seemed like for the high end price we could’ve had something extra included.

Great location and beautiful rooms...
Liked: Great location, beautiful rooms with comfy beds and luxurious bathrooms.
Disliked: Check in process was slow and unorganised. Staff were not overly responsive or engaging. Disappointed in that for a 5 star property

A fantastic hotel in a...
Liked: We booked this hotel as a base for exploring LA while visiting for a show at the Peacock Theatre and it was pretty close to perfect. Starting with the location, its on the hills in West Hollywood, and on its front door is a bus stop for the 2 Bus, which goes all up and down Sunset Boulevard. Super handy if you want to get to places like the Chinese Theatre / Downtown in one direct or Santa Monica beach in the other direction. When we arrived at the hotel, it has beautiful decor and the staff are incredibly friendly. Without the bus stops the location is a bit out of the way if you dont drive, but its a nice area and LA is so massive that any hotel could be considered "out of the way" if your not right next to where you need to go. The hotel is at the top of quite a large hill too as a heads up for those who enjoying walking. The receptionist ran through a list of amenities that some of which were available that we weren't aware of, but are amazing. These include a rooftop pool, a cinema room showing select films each evening, a two lane bowling alley in the basement, an on site spa with treatments and the ability to rent a car (a Cadillac no less!) at no charge from the hotel for up to 4 hours (LA is not walkable at all overall, so this is good for drivers). All these great features were a surprise to us, but really made the hotel feel special. The restaurant for dinner / breakfast is on the roof with beautiful views of LA, and is heated during the night in case it gets windy. The room was a great size, clean and perfect for a stay. It included a range of paid amenities and a fridge available for use for free. The hotel staff were always willing to help with local information and tips and they seemed to have a 24/7 reception / door staff service.Overall the hotel made our trip a fantastic stay, and if we were to visit LA in this particular area we would definitely look to come back
