Liked: It is an absolutely beautiful, historic building in a wonderful location on Michigan Avenue, about 2 long blocks from the Riverwalk one way, and about 3 blocks from Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“the Bean”) the other way. Anything you need you can find just steps away. The staff was phenomenal, from start to finish. Truly, it was the best customer service I think I’ve ever received at any hotel. The beds are comfy, rooms are very clean and well-appointed.
Disliked: The refrigerator in the room is a chiller, not a refrigerator. It kept drinks cold, but we did not feel like it was safe to keep food as we didn’t know how cold it would get. We did not love the in-room coffee machines. They were little espresso Keurig-type machines for little cups of coffee in small glass tumblers. The coffee was delicious, though. Finally, the hotel is on Michigan Avenue so there is a fair amount of street noise. We expected that based on location, but that may be an issue for some so I wanted to mention it. The rooftop lounge was closed, presumably because of the time of year, so if that’s something you’re looking for, make sure it’s open at the time of year you’re visiting.
