Bridal Suite Disaster!

Liked: Reception staff was friendly on receiving us but could have taken us to our room as the explanation through the many turns left us lost and having to go back to the reception asking for help. The size of the Bridal Suite, the heated toweling rail and the SpaBath was the good points of the suite. The rest left much to be desired for. A small electric fan heater in place of the traditional fireplace was a lifesaver and the only proper heating in the suite. Kettle and tea / coffee / milk was supplied and adequate.
Disliked: Windows does not seal, draft can be felt.Ceiling in the bathroom is moulding.Central heating system barely working with only two of the units warming up slightly.Couch in the living room has no springs, when you sit on it you literally sink into the bottom. The windows aren't double glazed, the cold can be felt when standing near the window and the noise from the street is loud.THE BED-Though beautiful vintage poster bed probably as old as the building was lovely to look at but the mattress probably dates back to the same era as it was a very old spring mattress that was maybe OK many decades before.I could not sleep all night as the springs could be felt on every part of my body. There were no extra blankets in the room only the thin duvet on the bed.I asked for another mattress or a topper or multiple blankets to layer on the mattress at reception the next morning. The response was met with no empathy for what I went through, no apology and little effort to assure me of their interest to solve the problem.I was told that they will raise the concern with the manager and that was it.When I returned the evening the matter was not dealt with and the room was simply just tidied up, coffee replenished and cups replaced, toilet paper refilled and towels neatly hanged up.The bed was made with the existing bedding and nothing more. The SpaBath was not cleaned and left in the same state as I Ieft it with a rinse. It was clear that it does not get a proper clean after being used as the water that filters through comes out brown. It takes forever to fill the tub which is fine if you want to use it as a spabath but take note there is no shower hook to hang the handshower on should you wish to take a shower.Back to the mattress and after requesting again at reception for some kind of topping on the mattress I was told they will see what they can do!3 hours later and a phonecall got them to bring a thin duvet from another room, placed it over mattress and that was it.

A good stay, overcharge for...

Liked: Location, style
Disliked: Service was a bit hap hazard! Need to make sure that new staff shadow experienced staff and not left on their own to feel like they re failing.....Also, the dog charge is exorbitant! £15 a night is far too much ....I thought it was per stay!

Not the best

Liked: The location and the staff were great
Disliked: Outdated room that smelt of damp. The tv wouldn’t work, room was only cleaned once properly during our four night stay. Paying £15 per night for a small dog is also completely unacceptable when it’s not mentioned on the room booking.
