Disliked: Subject: Feedback Regarding Stay at Paku Lodge HotelDear [Hotel Management],I recently stayed at Paku Lodge Hotel with my family, including my brother and his wife, and unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience that I would like to bring to your attention.Upon check-in, we encountered rude behavior from the staff, which was both unprofessional and disheartening. The front desk staff informed us that only four people were listed on the booking for two rooms, pointing out that my 2-year-old son was not mentioned in the reservation (I may have inadvertently missed adding him). I clarified that children under 3 typically stay free across New Zealand, as also indicated on your website, and we did not require any additional bed or cot.Despite this, the staff member insisted on charging an additional $25. To avoid further conflict, I agreed to the charge. However, the situation escalated when another staff member came out from the back and started shouting at us in a raised and confrontational tone, which was extremely unprofessional. We explained that we have never been charged for a toddler under 3 at any accommodation, but she persisted that the charge was mandatory.To my surprise, I now see an additional amount deducted from my account without prior explanation. This experience not only dampened our stay but also affected my reputation, as I had recommended your hotel to my family.Could you please investigate this matter and provide clarity on the charges? Liked: view, location, and free kayak that the owner helped our kids to set up, really enjoyed the beach in front of the lodge.
