Exceptional

Clean, comfortable and quiet at...

Liked: Its a nice quiet hotel, away from the bustle of the city and its clean and comfortable. I like to walk so it suits me to stay here and walk into the town centre
Disliked: The removal of the cooked breakfast option is a let down. Continental is offered but its not the same. I am not a fan of the little soap and shampoo sachets in the showers either, they are too hard to open, but that is it. I struggle to find any negatives for this place, its good value for money and the staff are always great

Place with character. Good value....

Liked: Loved the character of the place - age of property, furniture etc. It has an air of faded grandeur about it (in a good way!) Our room was not huge, but was definitely more than adequate for our needs. There was a very attractive room (with a nice view overlooking the garden) where you could have continental breakfast for an extra £8 per person. We had a nice, friendly chat with the lady serving breakfast. Parking by the property was easy and it was straight forward to drive into the city centre.
Disliked: Water pressure was not strong for the shower and the water took a long while to heat up, but it got there in the end! We had the window open overnight and there was some road noise, so if you're a light sleeper, you might want to bring ear plugs in case they're needed.

Perfect for 1 night

Liked: Not everyone’s cup of tea but it was something straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. I loved it! The bed was firm and super comfortable, en-suite bathroom was great, kettle and hair dryer in the cupboard. What I loved was the high ceilings, sash windows, window shutters and mohair blankets. The location is awesome for the price, so close to the city centre. I would definitely stay again.
Disliked: Nothing

Perfect location to stay if...

Liked: Room was extremely spacious, with friendly staff.

Quirky but could do with...

Liked: we stayed for just one night. I like the quirky style of the room. I felt like I was in a sherlock Holmes story.
Disliked: The four poster bed was a selling point for me but I was disappointed to find the mattress was two singles pushed together.

Very good

Liked: Easy access from the centre and free parking. The room was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: You can tell the facilities are old. If you like modern hotels, this isn't it.
