Great location, friendly and courteous...
Liked: Location was excellent
Disliked: Escalators were closed every night during peak hours with the large event made it really disruptive to get in and out of the hotel in the evenings.

Nice hotel close to Waikiki...
Liked: We stayed a little more than a week at the Beach Comber hotel, and overall we were happy with the hotel! Location is fantastic, just a few minutes walk to Waikiki beach and right next to some big shopping malls and plenty of restaurants. The hotel itself is above average I'd say; there isn't a proper breakfast restaurant belonging to the hotel, however there is a small cafe on the premises that serve a bunch of stuff (but it's open to the public too), and they had great coffee there. The rooms are very clean, and cleaning itself felt very thorough throughout our stay, which was great. We had some issues with out room when arriving, but staff was very helpful and friendly when we solving the issue. The room was pretty standard, had a mini-fridge and the usual amenities, and the beds were very comfortable in my opinion. Bathroom was a bit small though, and we only had a shower, not a tub. AC was very good and we didn't have any issues with temperature in the room. View from the balcony was nice, and you could definitely sit there and enjoy the view of the city as well. In conclusion, a very nice hotel but nothing crazy special or out of the ordinary.
Disliked: The room we first got on arrival was literally right by the elevators and so the noise from them was really annoying, so we complained to reception and got a new room. However, the new room wasn't the type we had booked and paid for, so the following day we asked to change again and got a third room that was better and we could stay in. Staff was super-friendly all through this, but I did find it disappointing that a hotel with such high standard would have rooms that aren't at least a bit sound-proof, or at least more quiet elevators :) The pool area onsite is super small, with not many loungers, and got very busy in the afternoon (especially with small children), so that could be good to know. However the beach is literally a few meters away so I'd recommend just going there instead. Finally, unfortunately we did have a bad experience one night when the fire alarm went off in the entire hotel at around 1am and everyone had to evacuate, only to be told it was just a malfunction of the alarm itself. However, when we got back to the room, the alarm went off again, and this continued to happen for another hour or so (alarm going on, then off, then on) and it was quite a harrowing and disturbing experience. My other guests seemed exhausted too, and especially some elderly guests were really struggling to get out and back to their rooms. I understand this isn't what the hotel or the staff would've wanted either (and shout-out to the nice security guard downstairs who was very kind), but I do think we should've received some compensation for this ordeal, especially since our sleep that night was basically ruined.
