Comfortable pre-flight stay, and an...

Liked: We stayed for one night before our outbound international flight. The room was slightly smaller than I expected but the bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The shower was good. We had a lovely friendly welcome on arrival, and we enjoyed the continental breakfast. The airport is a short drive away so it was ideal for us.
Disliked: Nothing - it was absolutely fine for a short stay.

Liked: Breakfast excellent.Location so close to central Chch.Friendly, accommodating staff. Hotel had a nice feel about it … homely.

Great location, building and breakfast...

Liked: Beautiful historic building in a prime central yet quiet location. Lovely staff, good breakfast and nicely decorated interiors. Having parking centrally was brilliant. Nice outdoor seating areas.
Disliked: Both mine and my fellow travellers had rock hard mattresses which really impacted our sleep. We asked the staff to remedy and they did put a blanket on top but unfortunately this didn’t help much.

Lots of atmosphere, lots to...

Liked: House and gardens very beautiful, historic and atmospheric. Very convenient within a short walking distance from the centre and all sights. Breakfast good, lounge very comfortable. Quiet and peaceful most of the time. Allowed us to leave our car in the small car park beyond checkout time for a few hours until we left for the airport.Nice touch of offering a glass of wine to welcome guests in the lounge at 5.30pm.
Disliked: Hard and squeaky bed, hot room and couldn’t use aircon due to loud intermittent noises from it during the night. Unfortunately stayed on a Saturday evening and were disturbed late at night by shouting in the street behind us and cars and motorbikes revving and racing each other for a couple of hours.Staff seemed to rotate each day and stayed “remote” and formal unless assistance was required.
