Charming and comfortable cottage in...
Liked: Olinda is a charming area. The cottages are so well located as you can walk to the nearby grocery store, liquor shop and restaurants. We had the best Indian meal and the best Thai meal we’ve had for ages. Breakfast was provided on a self cook basis, with eggs, bacon, fruit and fruit juice all in the fridge. Bread and milk were also available. The bed was very wide and comfortable and it was a bonus to have a large bath. Although it was hot outside the air conditioning made it a cool haven. The owners, Kathy and Wally were very friendly and hospitable hosts. As a base for exploring the area it seems the perfect spot.
Disliked: There was nothing we didn’t like. It was the perfect start to our Australian holiday.

Great location and loved all...
Liked: Location was excellent for us to explore a new area. Everything was very local and easy to reach. Kathy was very helpful in telling us good places to visit. We loved the Dandenongs.
Disliked: There was everything we needed in the cottage, but it was a little dated and a refurbishment, I understand, in the near future is planned. We saw the other two cottages on the estate that had been refurbished and they were lovely. They were for couples and we needed two bedrooms. It was fine for the four nights we stayed there.

Good
Liked: Loved where cottage was set in lovely country gardens, play grounds for grandchildren. Bedding was exceptional fresh & crisp. As I have autoimmune issues Host Cathy only used perfume free or environmentally green products. Lots of fruit, juices, eggs provided for breakfast. All though it was summer there was one very cold day so we lit the fire. This cottage would be lovely for a winter wkend escape and visit the local villages.
Disliked: We stayed 7 nights which could be a little long as the lounge had one narrow window where you couldn't see out so did feel closed in. We had our tablets to watch movies on nights in as TV only has local channels. But no major complaints. Oh just to add it would be good to have somewhere to hang dresses other than hangers behind doors.

We had a very relaxing...
Liked: The setting was really good, lovely gardens in a bush location but walking distance to public transport and groceries. The hosts were lovely and very helpful and responsive to our needs.
Disliked: The kitchen was a bit idiosyncratic in design and layout, but it was fine for preparing breakfast and light meals, as advertised

Beautiful place to stay
Liked: The communication leading up to our stay was excellent and our reception from Kathy was warm and welcoming. The cottage is in an excellent location with a short walk to restaurants, the IGA, bottle shops (if you need them), a bakery and a coffee shop. We had the spa cottage which had everything we needed, including a kookaburra which came to visit and the garden setting was beautiful. Breakfast provisions were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will go back again.

We enjoyed our stay!
Liked: We booked 2 of the self-contained, free-standing studio cottages and enjoyed our 3 night stay. Our cottage was well-equipped with just enough cooking utensils to prepare simple meals. Breakfast provisions were extremely generous, including cereal, milk, bread, bacon and eggs, orange juice and fruit. The bathroom was modern and huge with a large shower and a spa bath. We enjoyed sitting on the comfortable west-facing deck overlooking the garden with distant views. The beautiful garden setting was a highlight. Kathy was a friendly, helpful and hard-working host. The location very near the Mt Dandenong village was another highlight. The proximity to the bus stop allowed us to use the bus service to Ferny Crk to enable us to plan excellent walks.
Disliked: The decor and furnishings reflected the era of the cottages which was to be expected.
