Grand appearance, sub-standard sleeping arrangements

Liked: Hotel very grand in appearance and the lobby/bar was rather pleasant, as would be expected of an older hotel with character.
Disliked: The upstairs/rooms were sub-standard to the quality of the downstairs and the price of the stay, I would say outdated and requiring renovation to modern standards. Not only were the beds uncomfortable, but the room was far too hot and even with the windows open, poorly ventilated. There were also cracks in the tiling in the bathroom.

An oasis of calm, a...

Liked: Quiet comfy room, overlooked the front park, trees. a very tranquil environment.Apart from the lack of dairy free catering, which I had previously emailed about, the breakfast and the dining room were excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The tourist or visitor to the area, is in the mature age range, and especially for a lovely hotel like the Old Swan. I was very aware that the lift facilities were very limited. Fit myself, I passed people with wheelchairs, people with dogs or needing assistance all waiting for a good while for the lift to come to them, especially between the top and bottom floors who pass them by.

Nice old building, good location

Liked: Located in Harrogate and not far to go out into Ripon and surrounding areas. Breakfast buffet was nice. Nice ornate features of an old historical building.
Disliked: Realising that the bathroom window behind the net curtain was not frosted so at night everyone from the outside could see in with you naked or on the toilet. £12 parking permit.
