Warm, cosy, welcoming.

Liked: Everything about the hotel was lovely. The atmosphere is charming, staff were friendly.
Disliked: Lack of lights to guide the way up the footpath to upper car park, arrived after 4pm, early dark nights, when going back to the car a few hours later, found it difficult to see where I was going.

Pleasant

Liked: Lovely hotel. Just a really nice vibe. The staff were very nice especially.
Disliked: My mattress was very uncomfortable. It was like too ... 'flexible' like I just bounced around and sank into it and wobbled around. With two of us I found we both sank into the centre as we slept. I was so uncomfortable and slept terribly. the mattress wasn't firm enough or give enough support to our weight. Maybe an old and worn out mattress or something? Also - weird one, but you could tell all the toilet seats were extremely cheap like the lowest budget toilet seats ever. they didn't stay open or closed. Very uncomfortable to use as they was always snapping and closing on you when you were trying to use them. When I stood up after finishing the lid snapped closed on my back before i could get clear. Sorry to leave negative feedback, I'm only just saying in case it is useful for you. Lovely hotel and staff though.

Enjoyed our weekend and would...

Liked: The room was lovely. Large with a nice little seating area with a table. Lovely old hotel in a fairly central location in the older part of Harrogate. Breakfast was a self service buffet with tasty fresh food.
Disliked: Checking in system a little haphazard. Waited nearly 25 minutes as only one receptionist on duty.

A pleasant stay

Liked: Convenient location and pleasant staff.
Disliked: There was an error over double charging. I think it's been resolved, but until both changes shift from being pending and only one payment is made I am watching it.

Great location, comfortable bed. Eat...

Liked: The location was absolutely fantastic for exploring Harrogate on foot and for the events we had booked at the conference centre and Royal Hall.
Disliked: The breakfast was on a par with the Premier Inn group but at 3 times the cost with a smaller bathroom.

First visit to Yorkshire and...

Liked: We stayed for 3 nights, travelling up from Swansea in the South of Wales and basically used the hotel as a base for exploring (due to limited time) a very small, but interesting part of Yorkshire. We had a double room, the bed was very comfortable and clean. TV/wifi was fine, tea/coffee making facilities were present and room had an Iron, ironing board, hairdryer, trouser press and extra pillows and (I think) blankets. Bathroom was clean, more than adequate with a bath and shower. No issues with the shower....it worked well. The hotel was a lovely building, corridors were clean and tidy, bar and ground floor seating was great with lots of beautifully appointed rooms/areas available for anyone wishing to read, chat etc.We, like most people, I think, always love a good breakfast and the one on offer didn't disappoint. The selection of food available was great and plentiful, whether you liked a light breakfast or a 'full english' (us!). The dining room was impressive, spacious, clean, tidy and, in a nutshell, a lovely place to have breakfast in and start the day. (My wife described it as 'serene') Staff were friendly, attentive without being intrusive and it was nice to see tables cleared and relaid quickly when diners left. We couldn't fault the breakfast, staff or the facilities. It really helped set us up for the day.Parking cost £10 per 24 hours. We had no problem with that and we paid at reception. There was ample parking on site btw. It's a big hotel and it had a good number of guests I think.....but it never 'felt' busy......another plus. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent there. OK it was a short stay but I suspect that a longer one would have been just as good.BTW, we didn't dine in the restaurant during the evening, It wasn't that it didn't look to be a good one,,,,,we were just too tired from full days out. The menu looked good though.
Disliked: We really can't think of anything to dislike

A comfortable stay in a...

Liked: Attentive service in the restaurant at breakfast time.
Disliked: The noisy radiator in Room 148 possibly because it is old and at a distance from the heat source? It creaked and actually BANGED when it was warming up.The hotel advertising should make it clear that parking is not just available but there is a charge for it.
