A lovely location, great staff,...

Liked: The building outside is beautiful and set in stunning surroundings. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do more to help. Any problem was addressed quickly, politely and friendly. The room was a sensible size and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms were clean. The selection of buffet breakfast was also good.
Disliked: There were items we had to request that had been overlooked in housekeeping - more toilet rolls, milk, biscuits, a bin bag for the bin, etc. There was no sanitory bin in the bathroom. The heating played up so one night it was too hot, the other night we ended up having a plug in heater provided as there was no heat at all. Staff are not always informed as well as they should be, but they do try their very best to make the guests stay as good as possible. The decor of the hotel needs some freshening up. The ownership and management need to invest more both financially and organisationally into this hotel to make it function well.

Disappointing Stay for the Price

Liked: The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made our stay more pleasant. The food was good, but it didn’t quite stand out as exceptional—it was satisfactory but not memorable. While the service and dining experience were decent, the overall impression of the hotel could be elevated with a bit more attention to detail in other areas.
Disliked: I had high expectations given the cost, but the room fell short in several ways. The bedroom was uncomfortably dark, with no main lights—just two dim uplighters on one wall. To make matters worse, only one of the bedside lamps was functional. The overall decor felt very dated, and the carpet was noticeably frayed at the edges. The bathroom lacked privacy due to the absence of a blind, leaving only frosted glass between us and the car park view on the ground floor—a design flaw that felt quite awkward.Unfortunately, neither the bedroom nor the en suite matched the standard I expected for the price. Significant improvements are needed for this to feel like a value-for-money experience.
