Good!

Liked: we were happy in all with the stay and accomondations. Apparently the suit one part of the familiy stayed in was very nice. One of the smaller bedrooms only had a velux windowThe swimming pool was very nice despite missing out on the jaccuzi which was out of order.
Disliked: Slow service in the bar on Saturday night. We had booked a table in the restaurant >10 days before and knew where we would be sitting but this was given to another group. Before we were sorted out and we sat down to eat quite late. However, Abdul was FANTASTIC and funny and gave us such a nice time that it was all forgotten in the end. Dinner and breakfast was very good

Lovely location but not worth...

Liked: Beautiful property, lovely spacious room, very nice touches like little chocolate box for birthday, biscuits etc
Disliked: Not enough staff, no robes in room (at a spa hotel!), poor food, not good value for money

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Could have been lovely but.........................

Liked: The food was good. It was a beautiful old building. With the exception of one English woman who worked on the Reception desk. The staff were unfailingly kind to us and could not do enough to help us.
Disliked: The room was tired, bedlinen and towels going grey with age. Stained carpets, curtains and scratched furniture. We had booked a better room which I believe we did not get. On day 3 of our stay the English woman on Reception appeared at 7.15am demanding we moved rooms and telling us we had too pay extra for my tiny dog. She said "we didn't know you had a dog". I had walked into the lobby with the dog in my arms when I arrived and without fail staff and visitors made a fuss of the dog.We only booked this hotel because they took dogs. This woman was extremely rude and aggressive in her manner towards us. I do not care to be treated in this fashion particularly as we had done nothing wrong and were paying to be there. I refused to move to another room as we would have had to move all our stuff and we only had another 2 days left. It was very expensive and whilst I don't mind paying I expect to get value for money. 5 nights bed and breakfast came to around £1700 with dinner on the first night and the extra that we were charged for the dog.

Very good

Liked: We have already been to the hotel two years ago and it is very beautiful, the hall, the library, the cloister restaurant, the paintings. The staff is extremely nice and attentive. Very good breakfast, cozy fire in the hall.
Disliked: Unfortunately we did not have a very nice room for the price we paid and compared to the last time we were there. It was in the annexe, there were cracks in the wall, a stain on the carpet, some broken pieces in the bathroom and we had a view to the car park. We will ask for a better room next time!

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Underwhelming

Liked: History
Disliked: Institutional in decor. Bizarre menu (baked beans with a £50 steak!), TV remote batteries corroded; over-priced basic food masqued as fine dining
