Liked: We usually love this hotel but this visit was upsetting due to the new car park payment and staff attitude to this on reception.
Disliked: There is usually no charge for parking at this hotel when booking with Booking. com and we have never paid extra for the dog. This time we were faced with a new carpark barrier on arrival and then the receptionist tried to charge us £25 pounds a night for parking! As our room only cost about £75 I felt this was a disproportional amount. The charge dropped to £10 but I refused as I said I was prepared to pay the £15 for the dog and I felt this was a compromise as this charge was only mentioned through an email, after my booking was made. The staff member agreed to only take the £15 for the dog. However, in the morning they wouldn't let me leave without the very same discussion at the barrier. Their carpark fee needs to now be made clear on Booking.com. I am also upset that the hotel is charging three times their normal rate when there are rugby matches or university graduations.
