Passable

Liked: View of beach
Disliked: We arrived on Light Rail, dragging our bags, it was blowing a gale from beach. (Sunday 5pm 10 November.)Found the Hotel but no sign saying “Entrance” . There was about 10/12 stairs up to a door which was closed. A sign on the right wall said Night Entrance Bell! We presumed that the Main Entrance was opposite the beach. We dragged ourselves completely around the entire hotel in the gale winds looking for the Main Entrance. We came back to the where the stairs are, then had to drag up our bags up the stairs. The Reception staff on duty were dismissive towards us. (We are two 80 year olds). They told us there is a lift!… There was no sign on the outside of the hotel building saying “Lift Entrance through Carpark”. The sign is on the inside wall of undercover carpark. Our question is “How can arriving guests coming from the train not by car in a blowing gale and rain see that sign?” The reception on duty on Sunday afternoon were very uncooperative and poor grasp of English,. There was a concierge girl standing at the entrance of Dining Room who could see two elderly folk struggling to get bags up the steps in gale force winds. She saw us but made no attempt to get help for us or by telling the male on Reception to go and help us! Poor ability to access a situation and react quickly. A total public relations debacle! The Reception said we had booked a carpark balcony view! We were under the impression we had a beach view as that’s why we booked the your hotel! The Reception then upgraded us a Beach View. The Room was not vacuumed, litter on floor also fluff and dust on the skirting boards especially under desk near beds. Bathroom was clean! The morning Reception on Monday morning were very friendly and helpful, and sympathetic! We recommend Clear Signage and a sign at Main Entrance on stairs.. LIFT THROUGH CARPARK. So elderly folk don’t have to drag with no help from Concierge their heavy bags up stairs in blustery sea winds!

Good

Liked: The hotel position is fantastic; just walk across the road and you're on the beach. I can only imagine that the view from the front rooms was amazing. The staff were amazing as well ... only encountered one that although was polite still managed to make me feel a little like she needed a bit of a tongue lashing.
