HORRENDOUS STAY

Liked: Absolutely horrendous, on arrival, the manager was very nice, this is not a Boutique Hotel, this is a pub! Very dingy and dirty, grubby going upstairs to the rooms, very dark, stairs carpet dirty, My room Beatrice was so tiny and I kept banging into things. No toilet roll and I only noticed this once I went to bed. Shower tray was very dirty and I found out why, at midnight once I went to bed, the downlight in the shower had water coming out dripping all night into the tray, I THOUGHT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS WATER SHOULOD NOT BE COMING OUT OF A LIGHT I had to throw all the towels in to stop the tapping all night, could not sleep as bed moved all over the floor. Could not get full access to Wardrobe, as they had a dressing table pushed up against it, very dark room. The other 3 rooms were taken up with our friends who also hated it, if we all had not been drinking we would have left , however could not drive and no where else to stay, needless to say we were all out of their by 8 the following morning , no one on premises through the night so only us 8 people in the pub all night so no one you could complain too. Also they took the payment out of my Bank account the whole amount of ~£595.00 a week before they should have , when all our friends were supposed to pay their own bills, on arrival and no way of getting our money back for such a horrible stay What a waste of £595.00, THIS IS NOT A HOTEL IT IS A DARK DIRTY DINGY PUB, such a shame the Manager was a nice guy and not around for us in the morning to complain too PLEASE REMOVE FROM YOUR WEBSITE I WOULD NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO EXPERIENCE WHAT WE DID
Disliked: Please see above - A DIRTY PUB NOT A BOUTIQUE HOTEL WHATSOVERPLEASE READ COMMENTS ABOVE

Horrendous

Disliked: AVOID - No heating or water at the property despite it being a cold night in October. Sleeping in jackets to try and keep warm. Staff not interested in resolving any problems. Booking.com not helpful either. Just AVOID Room not clean, products left from other people and not cleaned.

TRAVELLER BEWARE do not stay...

Liked: Bar staff friendly, and social
Disliked: .We were told how to gain access via the back yard gate which would be open and then keys coded rear entrance if the pub is closed (after 10.30) We came back after the pub had closed but the back gate was securely closed with no way into the yard. We tried the emergency number from the room information guide a number of times and only got an answer machine. This meant we had no way at all of getting in to our room. We stood outside wondering what to do for about 30 minutes, we tried using the room key in the gate lock but it did not fit. Eventually a local female person who was walking home tried to help by calling a number of someone they knew involved with the pub but still no answers. The young girl then tried to climb over the gate for us (we are mid 60's) using a bar stool that was outside in the side alley, she managed to do this and got the gate unlocked. The door to the rear of the pub was wide open so no code needed we just walked straight in. In the morning we were cold as there was no heating, we also tried to shower but no hot water either, we even left the water running for 10 minutes but still nothing. All in all a crap experience and definitely not worth anywhere near £120 which frankly is a joke, as without the girls help we would not have gained access at all and would have had to find alternative accommodation and a taxi.We have tried contacting the premises and also left a voice message but had no response. This has to be the worst place we've ever stayed at.

Deeply unpleasant.

Liked: We were going to a family wedding - the location suited us. The room looked smart, perhaps a tad too fancy.
Disliked: However, the plumbing was simply appalling. Screeching at us from the early hours, tap pouring with dripping noise and wouldn't turn off, then the loo wouldn't flush, despite taking the lid off the cistern and trying to persuade it to, and then the dreadful noise - was it air in the plumbing system? Like a bunch of fowl. I wrote and told them politely and received no answer. Perhaps worst of all, there was no air: windows wouldn't open and no air con. Nightmare.

Average

Liked: It is in a good location for what we needed it for. The staff upon arrival were friendly.
Disliked: Not all the facilities in the room worked and we therefore could not make the most of them. The room was clean to an okay standard but could have been better. The amenities in the room and bathroom had not been restored from the previous stay. Once our stay was complete we have been unable to get in touch with the property via booking.com and neither can customer service.

Welcoming host, great room, comfortable...

Liked: Host was friendly & welcoming on arrival, room was decorated nicely and felt cosy & comfortable, great coffee machine for the morning!
Disliked: It was very warm when we stayed, the windows didn’t open properly but the large fan helped lots!
