The Hilton Midtown obviously doesn't need to work very hard to please it's guests. We were told at check in they have a 98% occupancy rate, largely due to convention and business travel. Too bad for those of us not on a company expense account.

Liked: Location is fabulous.
Disliked: This was our second stay in four years. There won't be a third. You expect a large hotel in the heart of midtown to be busy. And it is. What you should expect from a Hilton is service and convenience. This was not our experience. We didn't get our room cleaned on the first day because we were still in the room at 10 when housekeeping called. Amenities in our room did not include a mini bar, coffee maker or free wifi. Our room was accessible, which we did not request or require. This meant our bathroom was spacious with no counter space. Minor inconveniences that add up when you consider the room rate (high).

Liked: This was a last minute trip and the hotel staff was able to accommodate us.

High expectations but truly awful.

Liked: Atmosphere and ambiance were pleasant
Disliked: Room had no AC, Cheetos/takis on the bed, no sheets for pull out sofa, bedside lamp did not work. Tried calling the front desk but no one answered at 1 am and we were so tired we ended up just falling asleep. Spoke to a manager that said she would call me back but have not heard anything and it’s been 5 days.

Hotel is in a great...

Liked: Location is excellent for shows and other activities. Room is comfortable. Convenient breakfast and snack shop inside hotel, Plentiful taxi services outside.
Disliked: The $35 per day resort fee was confusing. it is a use it or lose it type of fee designed to be used in the restaurant, bar or snack shop. Not my favorite approach. Also, when I booked through booking.com, I didn't get Hilton points nor could use the Hilton app to check in. Furthermore, when I called about the app, I was transferred to a sales pitch for Hilton vacations-- quite aggressive sales pitch asking personal questions, insulting and demanding, I had to hang up to get rid of the person.

Wonderful place to stay in...

Liked: The bed was super comfortable. Despite the room being small, it was always clean. We loved the location as it was located in a central area. Not too close to flashing lights, but walking distance from many attractions and places to eat. In addition the bar lobby was a relaxing area.

Liked: The location is great. Accessible with public transportation and stores.
Disliked: The room is too dark, busted lights, room is old. When we entered the room there was a bad smell. Staff are not approachable. And the toilet won't flush properly, we need to call a plumber to fix it.
