A beautiful building in lovely...

Liked: Staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Room was comfortable and quiet. Dinner was good
Disliked: Wine was vastly overpriced and selection was quite poor and the bar could do with a 21st century refresh - its outdated and a bit scruffy when compared with the rest of the facilities. Bar food was OK.

Liked: The staff that attends you is exceptional, very friendly and they answered all my questions by email promptly and with the best attitude.

Excellent escape close to home.

Liked: The hotel and grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The room was a good size, very clean and with a very comfy bed. The staff were extremely polite and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious with an good selection of healthy alternatives - I loved the green shots, blueberry oats and berry smoothie. Spa and gym facilities were very good too.
Disliked: I hate to say this because we had a good experience and the staff were great, but even though they were super-friendly and helpful it seemed quite robotic, insincere and over the top sometimes. It's not their fault because that's how they've been trained and no disrespect intended, they have been trained very well, but I wish it felt more natural, not only for us guests but for them too - I felt a bit sorry for them because it can't be easy to maintain that level of energy all day. There was also the issue of several staff assuming we were a married couple and assuming we had the same last name, which seems outdated and impolite.One of the pillows on the bed had almost no filling and the armchairs were not the most relaxing, so we ended up sitting on the bed to watch TV, which I also struggle with due to back problems.
