Average

Disliked: The hotel seemed really run down and was expensive. There was work going on outside the room which meant I couldn't rest after a long journey. Dinner was really expensive.

Friendly, rustic Scottish hotel.

Liked: Friendly staff. Pleasant, rustic Scottish hotel with original feel but modern, clean rooms and bathrooms. Great location.

We would never stay here...

Disliked: Supposed to be dog friendly, but when I took my dog over to the exercise area the gardener was telling me all the places my dog couldn’t go - my dog started to have a wee and the gardener tried to push her along with his foot!!! Reported to reception who really didn’t seem bothered. Booklet in room suggested dogs stay on floor or in cage! Stated that any mess / stains etc caused by dog would be charged £50 - the whole place was full of stains! Dog wasn’t allowed in eating area or bar, only games room but this had a funny smell. Breakfast wasn’t very nice either.

Liked: Great to see an old traditional hotel doing well. It's all about the people. Great staff who care about what they do. Good food and great breakfast buffet for those who like surfing in the morning...It's an old building that is steeped with history with many memories over the last 50 years. Don't expect the Hilton or MacDonald, you're not paying their rates! You get more than you pay for.
