G9d but a few let...

Liked: Location & Food were great. Staff very friendly & helpful. Overall ambiance and building/grounds great
Disliked: Small details let it down - stopped you giving it highest markings. Small attention to detail/presentation issues like pictures hanging way off straight; blue paper towels left on window sill in dining room, duster on the floor in bathroom etc.Room was really nice but again let down by broken toilet roll holder and catch missing on toilet door so could not close fully or lock.

Friendly staff, nice bar area.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was great.
Disliked: The spa was very busy and no where to sit around the pool. Changing rooms could do with an upgrade and very cramped when busy. The bedroom was large but again could do with an upgrade in decor and bathroom. The hotel had a tribute night on so we asked to move room as the original room was too close to the event which was going on until late.

Lovely property with great character...

Liked: The room was very big and comfortbale so perfect for a one night stay
Disliked: Not the end of the world but you can only get sandwiches after 9.30pm and despite asking if I should come down and order or if room service was included no one mentioned the £5 tray charge which is hardly a big deal but against a £8 sandwich is a bit annoying. Also, this is an old building which is lovely but the plugs near the bed do NOT take a Uk plug! That means youhave to chargeyour phone (alarm) on the coffee table unless you have a 3m long cable.....

Rest and indulge yourself in...

Liked: Rural location - easy reach of major destinations.Good food choice - nice to stay over here when I can and prefer this type of experience to those of the chain type offerings.Worth the few extra miles to stay here.
Disliked: Why nit pick? However if you want a comment to balance up, the room I was in could have benefitted from an additional power socket.

Check if there's a party...

Liked: The room was a decent size and the breakfast was well cooked (although not a serve yourself buffet). I had the fish and chips from the bar menu and it arrived quickly and was a decent portion size.
Disliked: I was staying at the hotel as a stop over for a long journey, so needed a good nights sleep for the next day. I originally booked a double room (no singles available) in advance, however when I arrived I was in fact told I'd been given a larger room, nice I thought! Nailcote Hall has a seperate building containing the pool, some rooms and a downstairs venue area for parties, etc. I get the feeling that I was moved to the larger room as they had group bookings who probably wanted to be together, so that's probably likely why I was moved out to a room in this seperate bulding rather than the main hotel. The problem was that the room I was now in was very near the venue area, so when the music started from about 10pm onwards, all I could hear was loud music and bass coming throught the walls when I attempted to get some sleep. I have no idea why they thought putting me here was a good idea, it would have taken a quick phone call or email to ask me if I was part of the group in the venue area and when I complained the next morning I got a "sorry about that" but didn't feel there was any real desire to do more. The food portions were good, but the cost was expensive, £22 for fish and chips and the same for a burger I think. This is the bar menu! I wasn't able to use the main restaurant as it has a dress code and that wasn't made clear in the booking. If you're coming here as part of a party, I'm sure you'll have a great time and no complaints, however if you're not then I would make that explicitly clear in your booking that you don't want to be near any loud parties.

It was a nice stay...

Liked: It was a lovely property. Nice setting.
Disliked: The room was dirty. There was a cork on the floor when we entered the room. Very dusty in the bathroom with bedside tables and lamps also dirty. Cobwebs all over the ceiling

Convenient and comfy

Liked: Location is beautiful, breakfast catering staff were amazing and happy. Beds are comfy but rooms were warm in March and with no heating on
Disliked: Hotel is lovely bit shabby, wardrobe didn't open, cold tap didn't work and screamed. Pool area needs a tidy and the steam room smelt really bad.
