Super comfortable, stylish hotel in...

Liked: Super comfortable room and bed. Seating areas in courtyard with bar area and fire pit was lovely for drinks with our friends before going out in the evening, and for eating breakfast. Pool area and hot tub. Mid century feel. Location: short walk to restaurants and cafes. 4pm wine and cheese was a welcome bonus. Free parking. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to this hotel.
Disliked: Breakfast was only served at 9am so was too late for us still waking up on UK time, and wanting to go to Joshua Tree National Park early. Breakfast options very limited, particularly for our vegan friends. However, there was a coffee shop across the street which we used which was open earlier. Palm Springs in general doesn't get going until 9 or 10am (nothing opens early) so I assume this start time reflects this.

Liked: The location is amazing :) You can walk to the Main Street ! The staff was really helpful and gave us all the tips to know to get around. We also get a complimentary drink after arriving and the apartment smelled really good.
Disliked: Everything was great !

Superb

Functional but rather characterless...

Liked: A strange place, seemingly neither one thing or another. The location is great, just off the Main Street & a short walk to bars and restaurants, but sadly the Hotel itself, a bit like Palm Springs I fear, seems to lack any personality or character. It's functional, which may be damning with feint praise; everything works, the room is nicely appointed (we were in a Disabled Room, not sure why, didn't request it), the bed was comfortable, but the whole complex just felt...soulless. Nothing wrong with anything, but nothing to get too excited about either, sorry.
Disliked: Well Reception was closed when we turned up at 5 o'clock, which meant we checked in at the hotel next door (a sister property that actually seemed to have a lot more going for it, despite a lobby full of workmen doing some 're-modelling'). So no Happy Hour package as advertised. Everything on the complex just looked a bit tired and dated, a pool and a jacuzzi were serenaded by speakers mounted on the walling, playing music just a bit too loud. Sorry Movie Colony Hotel, was expecting more (particularly for the price). Nothing 'wrong', just nothing with any personality or character. But maybe that's Palm Springs...
