Gave it a 2nd go,...
Liked: I like the pool and the gym.
Disliked: Room service / the food was not what was on the menu. So the truffle mash - had no truffle. Each drink I ordered on the app, was not available so had a phone call, and offered a different drink at a higher price. This happened over both nights.

Would definitely stay here again....
Liked: loved the bed was so amazing and comfortable. which was my main concern... food was amazing. and staff were great!! Luckily enough to check in early for a small fee which made our stay even more awesome
Disliked: not enough chairs when ordering food to room. bit not a major just can't think of anything else

Disappointing
Liked: Close to town. Spacious room.
Disliked: Unbelievably noisy. After asking for a room with a view, we were allocated a room on the 1st floor which had a view of the carpark, and which was opposite the laundry. At midnight we were still being kept awake by people chatting loudly in the laundry (across the hall and through 2 sets of doors ). At 2am we were still awake listening to the people in the room next door - word for word. There is literally no sound proofing in this hotel. Reception did have a ready supply of ear plugs behind the counter - I guess that tells you something. In addition, staff seemed highly variable in terms of experience and professionalism - quite a few were clearly new, some were scruffy. The much advertised chocolate hour consisted of lolly cake cut into small cubes and placed under a chocolate fountain - very kids birthday party. I understand that this hotel has been refurbished after serving as a Covid hotel, but although the rooms were spacious and the decor is pleasant, the noise is an absolute deal breaker. It’s also an annoying distance up a steep hill from town - too close to justify a taxi, but too much of a hike uphill if you’re carrying bags if you’re dressed up for a night out. Not an issue for us, but you wouldn’t chose this hotel when there are others closer to town and on the flat. All in all a really disappointing hotel experience.

We spent a lovely couple...
Liked: The front desk staff were AWESOME. Helpful, courteous and fast.
Disliked: The room was small, we had to move the chair at the desk to get by each time but we are from the US and used to large rooms so I don’t want to sound too negative about that.
