Mountain Treasure Bed and Breakfast, Hensonville

Our stay was a nightmare

Liked: The hosts were friendly enough. The property is in an area by a stream and it’s picturesque. The breakfast was good.
Disliked: Although the hosts were nice enough, our stay was very disappointing. The weather was not on our side and we traveled during a time when a hurricane was passing through. Regardless, the room where we stayed was very cramped and there was no chair in the room either, so all one could do was lie down on the bed and watch tv. Their dvd collection was nothing too appealing. The grounds were cute but there wasn’t THAT much ground to walk on before hitting a stream (it’s practically in their backyard). They told us about local restaurants - we went to one of them and the food was bad and overpriced. This bed and breakfast is really in the boonies and our internet connection was bad which made it hard to research local sites. On top of all this, this place was ill-equipped to handle guests during bad weather and when they lost power and water during the storm, we were completely stuck and having to go to the bathroom in a bucket. They asked us to stay out during the storm and so we could not rest and were driving around tired unable to go back to our reserved room. They didn’t think about us and how tired we might be. We cut our trip short and the hosts offered no compensation, voucher or future discount. We would not go back there.

Liked: Mountain Treasure is secluded, yet close enough to many things to do and some great local restaurants. There is a beautiful stream in the back where you can sit and relax in the warmer weather. The surrounding mountains are beautiful! I also loved seeing the chickens and cat on the outdoor premises. Agnes and her husband were very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious.

Liked: It was a nice location with nice creak in the back of the cottage. Great woodstove. Probably good to go with friends and big family but not for couples, way too expensive for what you get.
Disliked: The owner was very unpleasant to exchange with. I simply asked if breakfast was included or not (because the email was confusing) and she was aggressive, requesting me to send a screenshot of where I saw breakfast included and passive agressively promised she'll make breakfast 'if that makes you happy'... and kept insisting me to find a proof of seeing breakfast. I never requested any, was just asking a yes or no question... she even kept arguing in person at check in. We declined the offer because it was just too unpleasant.

Liked: Amazing host. Delicious homemade breakfast. Property was clean and beautiful. Owner was friendly and gave us great ideas and tips for the best places to explore.

Lovely, yet cared for cared...

Liked: Breakfast was made with eggs that had just been collected from the chicken coop and were nicely scrambled. Tasty fruit was freshly cut up over excellent yogurt with a touch of granola. The view was quite marvelous out of the eating area.I think the bathroom was the cleanest I have seen in my life. The proprietoress extended herself for anything I needed. She was very cheerful and welcoming. The area is also pretty, but there are two ways to get there. One option is much better than the other When going there, focus on using the best route.
Disliked: Nothing was an issue other than the above mentioned clarifying one's route options.
