The room was nice; the bed was comfortable and the historic building was beautiful. Sketchy neighborhood.

We love staying at the Mondale when going to concerts at the Bing Crosby Theatre. There is an amazing restaurant, 'the Guilded Unicorn' in the hotel and it is less than a 5-minute walk to the venue.
Liked: Love this hotel! The ambience, the historical feel, the rooms, the service people - it is all top notch.

Not a bad hotel, especially if you're seeing a show at the Knitting Factory across the street. Would recommend.
Liked: The room was cleaned and well maintained.
Disliked: The floors above us were super loud and creaky. Didn't get much sleep.

A very pleasant, peaceful, and...
Liked: Beds are a little firmer (but not too hard) compared to most chain hotels, a very good thing; and nice pillows without lumps, several for each person. Best of all, a spare blanket was available in the cupboard--no need to ask at the front desk. Hotel is quiet and not busy, a calm space beautifully decorated with charming prints and paintings and appealing quality furniture, with nice upholstery and textured carpets. There is a nice sense of seclusion in each room. There was a great new TV and a good desk in the room. The room felt spacious and was reasonably soundproof even with traffic on the street. WIFI was fine! There is coffee around the clock--very good coffee--and best of all, the hotel is staffed with kind and helpful front desk people. The downtown location is EXCELLENT, a short walk (a third of a mile or 6 short blocks) to PJ Chang's on Main Street at Post, for example. This is a really lovely property; we appreciated the inexpensive secure parking lot just behind the building. It is no wonder that we like to stay here every time we are in Spokane.
Disliked: Our room happened to have an Open Shower (ADA compliant) was a negative, only because of a thin (polyester-like) too-short curtain that did not fully keep the water in, even though we sprayed the shower carefully in the opposite direction and at a reduced volume. Suggest a heavy vinyl curtain be substituted. Rooms with baths are of course available as well. Would prefer a blackout blind under the venetian wood blinds, so as to fully block the neon street lights. Room lighting--spot lights or a stand lamp, along the one unlit wall--would be a desirable addition for those needing more lighting. There is no free breakfast available--not much of an issue, but it would be lovely to have a simple muffin or croissant to go with the coffee. In the basement is a nice restaurant, the Gilted Unicorn, and a coffee shop is also nearby, along with several other restaurants a few doors down.

Old, but refurbished, clean and...
Liked: It was really quiet. The old furniture throughout was interesting. Location was awesome - across the street and around the corner from the Knitting Factory concert venue. The Fitness Room is great - several machines, lots of dumbbells, some barbells, and a ton of room. The bed was nice and soft.
Disliked: The building lights shining upward on the building and into our windows. The shades blocked most of it, but it was still pretty bright. The Fitness Room is hard to find.

Would stay again…
Liked: It is really nice that there is common areas throughout the hotel that you can sit and relax in. The beds are very comfortable and there is complimentary coffee, tea and muffins in the morning.
Disliked: The young fellow that checked us in was not very professional, nor that friendly. Seemed as though we were bothering him when we checked in. The ladies in the morning were lovely though.
