The room was nice; the bed was comfortable and the historic building was beautiful. Sketchy neighborhood.

We love staying at the Mondale when going to concerts at the Bing Crosby Theatre. There is an amazing restaurant, 'the Guilded Unicorn' in the hotel and it is less than a 5-minute walk to the venue.
Liked: Love this hotel! The ambience, the historical feel, the rooms, the service people - it is all top notch.

Not a bad hotel, especially if you're seeing a show at the Knitting Factory across the street. Would recommend.
Liked: The room was cleaned and well maintained.
Disliked: The floors above us were super loud and creaky. Didn't get much sleep.

Would stay again, maybe a...
Liked: Older Charming property. Location, location! You can walk to restaurants, bars, music all very close. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which was where there was a large seating/lobby type area. Decorated with period type of antiques and comfortable chairs. Coffee/tea available all day. There was a little alcove/hall before entering our door, which was a nice buffer to noise.Gilded Unicorn connected to the property which was a very cool basement bar/restaurant
Disliked: We gave plenty of notice for an early check in. We drove 2.5 hours and just wanted to plant our stuff. They were still cleaning rooms at 3:00 and people in front of us got right in. If I had gotten an email request early in the day, I would have informed housekeeping the have the room done at least by 3. Also the lobby staff had to run upstairs to see if rooms were available. How about walkies??I loved our room, but there was something that buzzed on and off all night long. It wasn't our furnace as I turned it off. This was very disturbing as it cycled every minute or so, so wasn't an ambient background noise.

Cozy getaway
Liked: The room was very spacious and was decorated in keeping with the style of building. Big bathroom. We enjoyed the large seating area and hot drink station. We also went on an adventure to find rooftop patio.
Disliked: We didn’t like that the hotel sign was right outside our window. The blinds did not block out all the light.

Liked: beautiful building, nice communal lounging areas, great interactions with other guest.

We stayed here years before...
Liked: Location was excellent, close to all the places we wanted to visit. Good value for money on the overnight parking. The on-site restaurant was very good.
Disliked: We had to ask for a coffee maker for the room. It was brought right away and staff were most helpful. Some confusion on which credit card to use for the final billing.

Characterful and comfortable
Liked: Characterful central lobby area with fireplace. Excellent dining in the Gilded Unicorn pub in the basement. Comfortable room and an interesting history!
Disliked: The rooms/restaurants either side the entrance were being renovated and first impression on arriving at the property was of entering a 'work in progress' site which was a little daunting, but the rest of the hotel was lovely!
