Staff generally fine, ambience good,...
Liked: The spa facilities and the massage treatments were amazing, this was the highlight and the thing the hotel did well at. It looks like more money is put into this aspect. The hotel decor was grand and impressive. The room was good overall, with a few exceptions. Servers at eve meal were good.
Disliked: The bed was hard. A four poster sounds lovely but it had wooden slats so no bounce and comfort, the mattress was firm, and we had to ask for extra blankets to make it bearable. There was little hot water in the bathroom, ran it for 15 minutes and only luke warm. The cooked breakfast was good but the coffee was awful, tasted of tea as it was served in a T pot. but was definitely an attempt at coffee.Servers at breakfast were a bit bored.

Disappointing.
Liked: Staff were friendly. The hotel was always warm.
Disliked: I decided to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt as its rating was not high on Booking. It was close to the Longleat Safari park, which was the main reason for our visit. Valuable lessons were learned.1. £300 for 2 nights really does not get you much in the UK. I couldn't tell much difference between a BnB and Montigo Resorts. It didn't feel special in any way.2. If you're staying in the middle of nowhere midweek, expect to be the only guests in the hotel. We stayed Tuesday-Thursday and we were the only people in the restaurant. Could be a coincidence. 2 days in a row is no fluke, however.3. If the point above is true, then I don't understand why, out of all the rooms that were available and probably empty, I was not given a room I expected from the photographs. Every premium room (what we booked) photographed showed a four poster bed with a detatched bath. We got just a regular king size bed (not featured on any photos) with a bath every 3-bed house in the UK has in one of the bathrooms. Getting to the room reminded me of getting to gate 31 at Stanstead. An unnecessarily long walk in an empty hotel. Disapointing.4. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't take a lot of skill to prepare a good Eggs Benedict yet everything on my plate felt low quality and microwaved. To add to injury, the Pan Au Chocolats on the 'help yourself' table probably stayed longer at the hotel than we did. I get that there's no guests to eat them when they're fresh but don't keep serving them if they're 3+ days old. When they bounce off the floor, they're past their sell-by date. Honestly, just buy a bag of frozen unbaked croissants and just finish baking them at the hotel. They're delicious and no one will tell the difference where you got them from and solves the food waste problem. I imagined £300 would take me further than Wetherspoons quality breakfast.5.

Disliked: But cold in the lounge and bistro but it was December. Room warm. Could t get phone signal but maybe a good thing and not the hotels fault.

Excellent room and dubious breakfast
Liked: The room was fantastic and the spa was lovely.
Disliked: Breakfast was extremely mediocre. A tepid buffet more at home in a premier inn.
