Beautiful Bowral Stay

Liked: This venue is absolutely beautiful. The buildings, garden, pool house all embody the history of the site. The Hordern family purchased this site in 1910 and I loved being immersed in that history. Dinner in the restaurant was beautiful. Don't feel you need to order "sides" unless you are particularly hungry and if you are - one side will be plenty. Delicious, fresh produce cooked to perfection. You will not be disappointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds comfortable and rooms pleasant to stay in. Breakfast was included and offered everything you could ask for including some extras not expected - the beautiful honey roasted nut mix was a gorgeous addition to the menu. Lovely assortment of pastries, croissants, fruits, muesli and yoghurt. The hot choices scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, deep red roasted tomatoes with actual flavour, bacon etc. There is a coffee machine that grinds the beans not using pods. Wished we had more than one night here as the grounds are a must to explore and we ran out of time. A map of the property is available to show you the walking ad exploring options for the gardens. You can arrange a picnic hamper for your garden adventure too. So looking forward to going back. Thanks so much for the stay.
Disliked: There was an air conditioning vent in the ceiling but no remote control for air conditioning in our room. We were able to open the window which on this occasion was sufficient due to the temperature of the day and night we were there. We did not ask reception about this and there may have been an option we did not discover. If it matters a lot to you check with the site before hand. We noticed on our road trip that several of our stay venues had refillable wall mounted shampoo, conditioner, body wash sourced from local suppliers. This venue uses very small bottles. Would love to see the refillable addition here too. Much easier to use mounted in the shower recess and would cut down on the plastic waste disposal. Room had been renovated but the old bath/shower remained. If you have difficulty stepping into a bath to get to the shower please ask the venue if there are other options in other rooms.
