With a boutique spa and magnificent gardens Middlethorpe Hall & Spa offers award-winning food and scenic views. The hotel overlooks York Racecourse and is just 2 miles from the historic center of the city. The elegant bedrooms are decorated with antiques and many have views of the grounds. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with fluffy robes and free toiletries. Guests can relax in the indoor swimming pool spa bathtub sauna or steam room. There is also a gym in the Victorian summer house and the grounds feature leafy terraces and fragrant orchards. The grand restaurant features panel walls and garden views and guests can enjoy creative British cuisine by candlelight. The menus feature fresh local produce and ingredients from the kitchen garden. Built in 1699 the historic Middlethorpe Hall is now part of the National Trust and all profits are donated to the charity. The hotel is just a 5 minute drive from York Minster and offers free on-site parking.

Very good

Liked: The staff were amazing. Could not do enough to help.
Disliked: Grumpy lady members in the changing room and pool. They didn’t like that I was there with my 9 year old son.They weren’t aware that you could swim with a child between 10-11am.

Lovely gardens and friendly staff....

Liked: Easy to find. Lovely gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was very good.
Disliked: Bit dated especially the SPA area. Noisy road and roadworks nearby.

Must visit! Building, staff, food...

Liked: This place is magical, I’ve never felt so content in a hotel before. It’s more of a home away from home. If you’re thinking of visiting here just book it!!
Disliked: Only thing was personal I like a firm pillow but apart from that everything was incredible

Such a treat

Liked: We were upgraded on arrival to a suite. Now in our 60s we've never stayed in one before. It was so luxurious. Staff all friendly and helpful. I include the gardener here as most hotels don't have such a beautiful garden and I met her pruning roses
Disliked: Tiny portions of food at dinner with family were disappointing. My husband had a hypo during the night which is always unpleasant. He's diabetic and has to inject insulin before meals based on what he is expecting to eat.I was unable to get the shower warm enough for a comfortable one. Water took such a long time to warm up
