Brilliant location; really nice hotel; friendly staff on reception and accommodating night porter who willingly served myself and my partner drinks on coming back to the hotel late.

Disliked: Only one gripe, the lampshade in our room was particularly dirty and should be removed. Looks OK when lamp off, though when on, fillthy.

Liked: Its position in the centre of town is unbeatable. The hotel is obviously a work in progress, the public areas having been brought up to a good standard. The staff in the bar and restaurant were particularly attentive and the food was excellent. Parking on site was good.
Disliked: The footpath from the car park through the garden was very uneven and in need of urgent attention. A lift would be a great asset.

Liked: Good location with parking. Room comfortable. Staff very helpful and reimbursed us breakfast due to poor night's sleep.
Disliked: Weather very cold. Poor night's sleep as room so cold.

Very disappointing hotel experience even...

Liked: The location was very handy for my meeting. It is a character building with charm.
Disliked: The room was shabby, with worn and dirty carpets and ill fitting curtains. The room was cold and so was the dining area. My room had a balcony door that did not close properly and the cold night air and the road noise were a problem. I paid extra to get a Privilege Room and it was a bad experience. Very disappointing!

Lovely place with great rooms...

Liked: Great location. Great old building but lovely modern furnished building. Staff super friendly. Breakfast decent enough.
Disliked: Prefer not to have buffet breakfast but that was all.
