Good location, disgusting service!

Liked: The location was good, close to many restaurants, the car park is a little far to walk, through a very large shopping center carpark and down some very small and tight lift and stairs which felt a little unsafe. The room was clean.
Disliked: The rooms are very small, very very small, the bathroom is absolutely tiny, you had to squeeze into the bathroom and close the door to access the toilet. My experience is very mixed, but overall the worst experience in any Mercure hotels I have stayed in over the years.Start from check-in, we arrived a little early, 12 noon, asked if the room was ready for check-in, was told I had to pay a 50 Euro early check-in charge, so I said don't worry about it and went into town with my family. Upon returning at 4:30pm we check-in to our room, it was extremely small, and there was no child bed (although the staff member told us it was ready at 12 noon?), so I spoke to the reception about it and it seemed like they had no idea about the extra bed (I had just come from another Mercure hotel from Brussels with the same booking details who have prepaired a bed for my 5-year-old child), so the reception spoke to backofhouse and it took them over 40mins to squeeze a bed into my already tiny room. Once the bed is in place there is almost nowhere to walk. This is the worst to experience especially it is New Year's eve, I understand at this time of year the hotel can be very busy but to miss my booking details and take this long to sort it out is just unacceptable.Sadly my wife fell very ill on the 1st Jan 2025 so we had to extend our stay for another day to make sure she feels better to travel, I went downstairs to the reception to pay for another day, the staff member named 'Jacques' saw me approach, rolled his eyes and shook his head at his female colleague before walking up to me and asked what I want, when I said I would like to extend my stay for another day he sneered and shook his head again as if I was asking for something ridiculous, I got very upset and asked him if we had a problem, it took him around 10 seconds before replying we didn't have a problem and went ahead with the booking.

Need to improve communication abilities...

Liked: Room service did not respond and reception hardly answered calls. When contacting house keeping no one answered phone, had to call multiple times to request supplies. Poor service tangled with language issues, poor English worsened service quality.
Disliked: Location was good.

Bad

Liked: The view from the window was of the Eiffel Tower. Overall, the room is pleasant and has everything you need.
Disliked: I want this review to remain here as a mark of shame and a testament to the incompetence of this hotel’s staff! The check-in experience was a complete nightmare due to the woman at reception (unfortunately, I did not catch her name).I had paid for one night in a room for my family of three. We came to Paris to attend a concert on November 23. I checked into the hotel online via the Accor service. We arrived in Paris early in the morning, spent the day exploring, and returned to the hotel at 5:30 PM. The concert was set to start at 7:41 PM.At check-in, I handed over our passports, expecting a quick process since I had already checked in online. However, the woman at reception claimed that our room was not paid for. I showed her the receipt from Booking.com. She looked at it and, with a rude and confident tone, insisted that the room was unpaid. I then showed her the payment confirmation screen from the Booking.com app.She was visibly irritated and rude and continued to insist that the room was unpaid. I began searching for the transaction in my banking app. After about five minutes, she found something on her end, said nothing, offered no apology, and instead demanded a deposit for the room. By this point, I was very upset and angry at her incompetence.I had never encountered the need for a deposit at a hotel before and had not noticed this requirement on Booking.com’s website. When I expressed my confusion about why I had to pay a deposit, she was unable to explain it to me and simply repeated that I had to pay it and that we would not be allowed to stay without it.They didn’t accept cash, and my card only worked intermittently in France. I explained this to her, attempted to pay, but the card didn’t go through. Thankfully, due to her incompetence, she didn’t notice this issue, and we were eventually allowed to check in.The room itself was disappointing: there was a pubic hair on the toilet seat, black hair on the bed, and the carpet ha

The housekeeping and restaurant staff...

Liked: The bed is very comfy!
Disliked: The receptionist who check us out needs more training to work as receptionist. He act like he cannot speak. No good morning greetings, no smile! This is bad for a big hotel like Mercure Paris.
