Disliked: No water available in the bedroom unlike the mercure in Aix En Provence where we had a wonderful stay.no coffee capsules and no milk to make a coffee There is apparently a bar but of course it was closed for they’ve issues for getting staff The room was not great

Liked: The facility was clean.The gentleman who was at the reception on the check out (October 2nd early morning) was really polite and kept apologizing for the hotel policy of charging insurance in advance ( "Caution" en français)
Disliked: A surprise was waiting for me on the check in.Though the fees of the whole stay were already paid before my arrival, when I was doing the check in the young lady at tye reception said that they have to block an amount of EUR 300 to my credit card (sort of insurance) to cover any damages (from smoking in the room) or if I used any extras.When I said that this is quite unusual as I have been to several hotels in Paris but never seen this sort of policies. Moreover, this insurance amount even exceeds the price of my whole stay (2 nights), she said then we can make it only EUR 200.Because I arrived late at night and I had a business meeting the next day, I had to accept and I deposited the EUR 200 in cash (no enough room under my card).The thing that was really surprising and provoking at the same time is that my French friend who stayed at the other Mercure hotel (Mercure Marseille Canebière Vieux Port) didn't pay any sort of insurance. The only thing in common between my friend's hotel and mine is that the rooms contained the same signs stating that this is a non-smoking room and in case if smoking the guest will be charged EUR 200
