Liked: Friendly staff - helpful. Clean room.
Disliked: More staff needed at front desk. I wanted ice but didn’t get it.

Decent
Liked: It was a good location. The ambient noise from outside was nice
Disliked: The bed felt like a wooden plank. My back hurts and I slept terribly

Recent visit to Mercure Hotel...
Liked: How central to the hotel everything was.
Disliked: I paid an extra £50 for an upgrade. To be honest apart from a fridge there was nothing different. The tram noise was constant apart from a few hours in the middle of the night. We were offered a move, but it was too late at night to move all our belongings.

Great location, comfy
Liked: Breakfast was very good, good range and plenty of options. Very comfortable bed and excellent location. Staff were perfect in terms of customer service.
Disliked: Room was very cold despite the heater and miniature heater in room both being on. I think most of the heat was being lost through the windows which weren't double glazed given the draft despite the windows being closed.

I would not stay again
Liked: Great location. Lovely staff.
Disliked: Great location. Lovely staff. Hotel is extremely tired and in need of renovation. After paying for the privilege room option we were thoroughly disappointed with the room size and an interior in need of updating. The mini fridge on the floor in a small hallway is interesting situation. The bathroom, whilst good in size, needs to be cosmetically redecorated. Very little hot water also.

I’ve stayed in a better...
Disliked: On arrival after being stuck in traffic we were rushing to get to a concert, we checked in, dropped the bags off and left. In the morning I went to reception to give my car registration in but I didn’t realise we had to pay via another app (RingGo) for 24hr parking… I was then told I will get a £100 fine! The receptionist stated it’s on the wall and there’s a note on the desk… not where we checked in there wasn’t! This should have been told to us on arrival. Just a heads up!Last stay in there for us, plenty of others tho

Location great, staff friendly but...
Liked: The location was good, we were in town to watch James Blunt Concert at Arena. Parking at hotel was great and close proximity to tram to take you to the arena perfect.
Disliked: Hotel is old and clearly in need of full refurb or tearing down. It's been touched up with paint here and there but not clean. Door to bathroom didn't close and stank of stale smoke really bad so much so we couldn't stand being in there. Walls are so thin we could hear next door talking from the moment they came in at 4am until 6.30am when we left. We rang the hotel reception to tell them to be quiet but that didn't work so on the third time we rang down to reception I asked them to just give us a key to another room so we could get some sleep. We were given a room 5 floors above which we welcomed. Wouldn't stay here again though as it was just not what we would call 4 star which is what we were expecting. We paid £255 per room with 2 rooms.
