Will never stay again

Liked: Beautiful building but needs a refurb
Disliked: We had the last customers waste all over the toilet seat.

Great location but disappointing in...

Liked: Location and setting are very nice. Free parking.
Disliked: Our room smelt of cannabis when we entered it. We were switched rooms but to a double bed from a twin room and were not provided with enough towels. The bar shuts quite early and guests were asked to relocate so the staff can wipe tables rather than waiting for guests to leave. Breakfast was ok but limited vegetarian options provided in the hot buffet.

Passable

Liked: The rooms were very spacious. The bed was a lovely size. The room was clean and well equipped. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and quiet.
Disliked: The bar was very under stocked. They had run out of a lot of the drinks. They didn’t organise the breakfast area so we couldn’t sit together. When I asked if we could push two tables that were next to each other together we were told they were not allowed. This made it really difficult to chat and socialise as a family. The hotel felt very understaffed. We had to wait to register until someone found the receptionist, we had to wait to be served until someone turned up to the bar and we had to wait at breakfast to have areas prepared. The hotel wasn’t over busy.

Beautiful setting and perfect location.

Liked: I was apprehensive after reading earlier reviews - however, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms are dated and need a refresh but this is a beautiful old building not a modern 5* hotel. The setting is stunning, the staff are a delight, the level of dog friendliness is amazing and the breakfast outstanding and most definitely not cold. All in all the perfect pit stop en route home from Cornwall.
