Hotel Description
Mercure Bordeaux Chateau Chartrons is located in the old wine trade district just 5 minutes' drive from Bordeaux City Center and 2.8 mi from New Bordeaux Stadium. It offers elegant rooms and a furnished terrace. The spacious air-conditioned guest rooms are decorated in a contemporary style. They are well equipped with modern comforts including satellite channels on a flat-screen TV free Wi-Fi access and private bathrooms. The restaurant is now called the Winter Garden. It offers dinners and dinners and not breakfasts.... The cuisine is not 'traditional French' but: a contemporary cuisine based on fresh and seasonal products with multicultural notes. All in a tropical setting. And finally following its renovation this restaurant no longer has a terrace. Private garage parking is provided at an additional cost. Mercure Bordeaux Chateau Chartrons is close to the banks of the River Garonne and just a 15 minute walk to the CAPC Modern Art Museum.

Good location with walking distance...

Liked: Nice hotel in the centre of Bordeaux. Walking distance to Le Cité du vin and a very nice promenade along the Garonne river. Along the river there are plenty of shops and restaurants. On a sunny day perfect for a walk. Good breakfast and also a restaurant with a nice selection of wines. Parking is possible in an underground garage, costs 15 EUR/night.

A good clean place in...

Liked: Standard corporate hotel. Staff were OK, but weren't falling over themselves to help with our bags or negotiating a price for bike parking. Right in the town with a massive underground car park. Car park is perfect for keeping motorbikes secure.
Disliked: Car parking was paid for on a per room basis which is fine for cars. Our three bikes only needed one space but we had to pay for two as we had two rooms. Could have been worse of course, but unnecessarily annoying.

Reasonably priced hotel in Bordeaux

Liked: Easy to get to by car. Adjoining rooms good.Reasonable price
Disliked: The area is undergoing a lot of renovation, so doesn’t look as nice as the photo of the front of the hotel implies, but it’s only a few minutes away from the centre of Bordeaux.

Good

Liked: Generic hotel. Pretty okay location, not particularly close to many things but the Chartrons area is always nice.
Disliked: Reception and check-in was pretty standard, not particularly helpful. Floor plan was a bit confusing because our room was so far we ended up going around a bit.

It was a nice experience...

Liked: The room was spacious and comfortable! Location was easy enough to navigate and move around the area. The staff were friendly and helpful!
Disliked: The only thing that you need to change, is the hair dryer in the room.

A very enjoyable stay in...

Liked: The hotel location is excellent for visits to the Cite du Vin and the Bassin des Lumieres as well as the many shops and restaurants along the river front. Plenty of underground secure parking at a reasonable price. The staff were all charming and very helpful.
Disliked: Breakfast was very expensive so we went elsewhere. The beds, although very comfortable, had plastic sheets under the linen which makes them "sticky". Although advertised as a 4x hotel we think that a 3x rating would be more appropriate as the rooms are not very large and the bathroom cramped.
