Delightful time catching up with...

Liked: Exceptional Christmas Decor with a giant Christmas Tree. Close to the River Walk and the Alamo. Historic hotel and bar where Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders.
Disliked: Because it is a historic hotel it is a bit dowdy. Small bathroom with no place to put shaving kit or cosmetics etc. Lots of construction outside outside of the hotel which is impossible to negotiate.

Liked: They didn’t clean the room every day the rooms were big but very old bathroom facilities very dark rooms because lights were not enough

Liked: Good location.
Disliked: Bed was very uncomfortable. Holes in sheets. Housekeeping service every three days, which is fine, but only provided towels for two days. Rust/tea colored water for 10-20, seconds every time you turned on the tub water. Tub was peeling. Thermostat didn’t work half the time (which they warned you about) so often time my room was 66 degrees when I woke which is a bit too chilly for a thin blanket.

Liked: We were celebrating our 52nd anniversary and thought we booked a room with a view. No view! Asked to change rooms and was told nothing was available. We were not happy with our room due to the lack of what we had paid to have. Our third visit to the Menger and unfortunately very disappointed compared to prior visit. Room was clean and room service was great ! Hotel bar is excellent.
Disliked: No view !!! Paid for a view and they did not live up to our expectations. Thought we would have view of the Alamo. Instead, got a view of a steak restaurant !
