Very good

Liked: Hotel has the potential to be stunning. Nice location, estate and great golf course. The restaurant food was great and the cave bar cosy. Staff were professional and friendly.
Disliked: The accomodation was dated. Furniture not in keeping. Heating couldn't be controlled. Heated floors in bathroom nice idea but as heating wasn't controlled it was literally like a sauna. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows felt very old and flat. Small windows could only be opened a little and didn't help much to cool the room. Booked the stables as these were the only rooms with "twin beds" but they were also the rooms where pets were allowed and both my daughter and I have pet allergies. With the heat of the room and the inevitable pet hair remnants from previous guests, the allergies were bad. The water temperature in shower could not be turned to cold. It was near to scolding.

Liked: Stunning location. Beautiful setting.
Disliked: Only issue was with the tv. Older style. We had issues with finding a channel that worked as only freeview was available. The tv kept freezing. We gave up and tried looking for music to listen to but were unsuccessful with that also. At such an upmarket venue I would expect a smart tv so you can access your own Netflix etc.

Enjoyed our 2 day break.

Liked: Spacious room with fantastic views across the golf course. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and drink was well presented and delicious.
Disliked: The room could have been warmer and the turning up the controls made no difference.

Comfy and relaxed. Great staff.

Liked: Staff are really nice. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are large and have plenty of plugs and a place to work. The Scottish breakfast was excellent, nice to have haggis with it. Dinner was great, not too much and not too little. Good choices but not so many that you struggle with what to pick. Steak was cooked exactly as asked. Great parking too.
Disliked: Room was a little warm. Shower drain was a little clogged. Could have done with more additions to the steak, tomatoes or mushrooms (or more brilliant haggis). Thats being really picky though.

Liked: Nice building and grounds
Disliked: The room has a noisy pump or fan in it that kept us awake allNight. The bed has a big dip jn the middle and have us sore backs.
