Not cheap but certainly within...
Liked: LOCATION: You are paying for the central location. Everything is walkable from this location. ROOM: We booked this room: Superior ME Balcony and Panoramic Views, with a view of the small plaza on the side of the hotel, not the main square. This was better, we think. The room is a good size, has a desk area, a refrigerator, and good closet / clothing space. There is a balcony with enough space to stand outside. These rooms are on the 5th (6th for US) floor, so high enough up away from people, but the noise from the people in the street below can reverberate (but this is the trade-off if you want an exterior view instead of interior wall view, no!). At US$349 per night, it's not cheap, but you get a great BREAKFAST. The breakfast here is a nice spread, with plenty of everything for everyone's taste. Scrambled eggs, ham and turkey cold cuts, some sausages, smoked salmon, some veggies, tons of pastries and fresh bread, juices and coffee/tea. One huge plus is that breakfast goes till 10 during the week and 11 on the weekend. LONG BREAKFASTS are possible, and this can even be brunch, so you'd only need a snack later plus dinner. KUDOS TO THE STAFF. At the front desk is a taller gentleman who wears glasses who checked us in and helped along with a young woman with the Uber when we were departing. Check-in with this gentleman (whose name I never got) was exceptional. Special kudos to the breakfast staff, especially the cook Alejo, who did such an incredible job. (Note: we are a retired couple looking for a nice clean room in a good location with easy access to tourist sites. This hotel was a good choice. If you skip breakfasts, I might choose a different hotel/price point.)
Disliked: The only negative is that you are in the middle of everything. With ANY hotel in this central area of tourist-heavy sites (the old squares, the museums), you will have LOTS of people and with that comes noise, especially in the evenings. You can find places just outside of this area if that is a concern for you. We went during early February, when it was chilly in the evenings, limiting partygoers on the streets, but I wonder about any hotel in this area for nighttime sleeping during warmer months when people are out on the streets till later. Remember: Spain goes to bed VERY late, especially in this tourist-central area, but it's not just the tourists. The Spaniards are often louder and more boisterous, especially at 3 a.m. when out with friends, etc. (We always sleep with LOUD rain sounds on our phones!)
