Good relaxing stay
Liked: Staff were great, the room was a nice size with good bed and full bath, food both room service and in the restaurant was excellent. We look forward to staying again
Disliked: Possibly because of the extreme cold there was a knocking sound in the water pumps above our room which did disturb us during the night, but we were compensated by the hotel for inconvenience, would definitely stay again,

Lovely old manor hotel, but...
Liked: This was not the hotel we should have been in, our other one was cancelled due to a problem, so we were a bit flustered when we arrived and managed to get a room. We were very warmly greeted and quickly checked in. The rooms are arranged around a courtyard and we were given room 7 a strange room with no windows, but two skylights. One of the skylights had an electric blind. The bathroom was very nicely decorated and very clean, but absolutely freezing, with just a tiny electric towel rail to warm it. The decor, was quaint, but this is a very old coaching inn. The Tv had a good selection of channels with a Roku remote if you wanted to stream Netflix etc (if you have an account). There is Twinings Tea and Nescafe and a biscuit. When we returned at 11.30 we manged to catch the end of the log fire and although the hotel was quiet, Lance the night porter served us beers as we sat and enjoyed the fire. He was incredibly nice and an asset to the hotel. In fact all the staff seemed lovely. There is Air Con, but its cold only and cannot be used for heating the room. (it was switched off at the time by the hotel)We did not do breakfast, but its served in a very old interesting room. The Tudor lounge was a lovely place to sit and chat, and it was 1am when we finally retired to bed.
Disliked: It was a very cold night outside, but it was also freezing in our room. The heating seemed to be on, but not full belt, so we ended up putting some clothing back on. Also the bathroom was incredibly cold, it really needed a bathroom fan heater in there. In the entry way to the room was a skylight with no cover..we had a late night so were sleeping in, but as soon as it was light the room was light..not too bad in the middle of winter, but if I was in there in the summer and the sun was streaming in at 4am I would be annoyed, as I like a dark bedroom. And for a hotel in 2025 there was not a single USB socket in the room, which is very strange.
