Liked: We stayed at Mar Hall last night (02/01/25). It was a last minute booking. We are a family of three. We had a lovely stay and used the pool.We had a young lady named Tabby who came to our room and made my daughter's bed, she also got some things that i requested. In the morning we arrived for breakfast. During breakfast my 4 year old asked me for water. There was no water available at the breakfast buffet so I asked the young man named Mikey (Michael), if i could get a glass of water. He replied yes, but proceeded to continue cleaning the tables and setting the table. I asked him again 15 minutes later as my 4 year old really wanted water. Mikey snapped at me and said he will get it, I did not respond to his disgusting attitude, I just nodded and said ok. After a further 10 minutes, the glass of water arrived. I thanked Mikey and my husband explained to Mikey that water was not available at the breakfast buffet. He had a Vile attitude towards us throughout breakfast. We payed a lot of money for our stay, everything and everyone was pleasant except for the young man at breakfast on 03/01/25. There was a young lady along with Mikey, called Jess (Jessica), she was very attentive and we asked her for any requests we had after that.Unfortunately we will not be back and will not recommend this hotel to our family and friends. This incident is unfortunate because we were excited to go back after the refurbishment for future stay. It only takes one person to put the whole team and hotel down. I hope this young man does not treat any other guests like this and also fixes his attitude at this young age or he will not get very far in life.

Lovely hotel

Liked: Location, easy to get toBeautiful hotel, luxurious and very good food. Spa was very nice tooThe staff were fab, friendly, pleasant attentive and gracious, without exception, they made it
Disliked: Probably that there were no ladies toilets on same floor as the lounge and bar , only a gents!

Great Hotel

Liked: The Deluxe room was gorgeous. Decor beautiful, nice outlook from window. It was spacious and bed was large and very comfy.The new restaurant and refurbished lounge are modern and have a nice atmosphere. The new restaurant is now used for dinner and the original Chrystal Restaurant is only for breakfast.I was a bit disappointed that we couldnt dine in the original restaurant as I feel it is more elegant.Food however was amazing.Daniel and his staff team were very helpful, friendly and attentive.
Disliked: The room was situated a good bit away from the main building, down a few corridors and next to the Spa. The corridor we had to use in Spa was wet with puddles of water from people using the pool. While there were Wet Floor signs it was really difficult to walk there in outdoor shoes and pull luggage. A health and safety issue. I reported it to manager who will raise my concern with Spa staff.

Very poor reception experience and...

Liked: The staff in the lounge were excellent. Attentive and knowledgeable.
Disliked: I was not informed that I had booked room only (which I actually doubt as I always book bed and breakfast). Then on check-out the receptionist tried to charge me £17.50 for a child’s breakfast (he ate two small pieces of melon and a bit of bacon fat). If I had known I was room only I would not have went for breakfast. Guest should be reminded on check in. They did agree to not charge for my son’s breakfast but I was charged for my husband. I’ve also noticed £50 has come out of my bank account and I have no idea why. I’ve emailed the hotel to enquire but no reply. I just find all this awful service. I was going to say the staff did well during the upheaval of renovations but this has ruined my stay.
