A great place to stay. Clean; friendly and it has a 30's style which is fun.

Liked: Clean; friendly; great modern bathrooms for such an old hotel.
Disliked: Smelly in hallway. I think one of those fake smell things was plugged into the wall. I prefer fresh air.

Bad

Disliked: They canceled my prepaid reservation due to a communication misunderstanding and then were extremely rude so that I had to fight to get a replacement room elsewhere. What was a simple communication misunderstanding turned into a miserable experience.I had two separate reservations on Booking.com, and I canceled one reservation but not the second. They then gave away the second reservation to another client, even though it was still active on Booking.com. Everyone makes mistakes but when I arrived jet lagged and showed them my active Booking.com reservation, they accused me of lying, blamed me, then belittled me when I asked for a replacement of equal star rating. (The manager, Frédéric, made fun of me for not knowing that the hotel star system doesn’t exist in Montreal.) I wish he had just apologized and offered to find a solution, but instead he was excessively rude while finding a replacement room nearby and I left a horrible distaste in my mouth.

Liked: My room was charming and very comfortable. The breakfast consists mostly of pastries, fruit, yogourt, etc, and is served in a beautiful dining room, with friendly and very helpful staff, who offered gluten-free toast for me. The location is close to restaurants, the university and shopping.
Disliked: There is traffic noise from Sherbrooke St in the rooms facing the front of the building, but it didn't bother me with the windows closed.

Liked: The hotel is a beautiful old 19th century mansion that gives you a real feel for old Montreal. The breakfast room in particular is gorgeous and its nice how they play classical music during the breakfast. The hotel location is fantastic being steps from Carre St. Louis and being right in Sherbrooke St. Very reasonably priced as well.
Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Great location, wonderful hospitality by staff, very nice breakfast at the hotel. Felt cozy like you were staying in someone’s house. Perfect central location. No complaints!

Liked: The property is very well maintained, the staff is lovely. I try and stay here when I can. Breakfast is always great, wifi is excellent. I had to work after checking out and they were very kind in letting me stay and work until mid day.
