Exceptional

Excellent, clean and modern hotel...

Liked: Breakfast was excellent and of a high standard.
Disliked: Roof top terrace bar is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays which was very disappointing, wish we had known in advance.

Fabulous Stay

Liked: Fabulous hotel. Reception staff were helpful and friendly especially the lovely blonde girl who served us , we were able to drop off our luggage before check in and leave it after checkout while we went out for the day before the train home. The room and bathroom were luxurious and spotlessly clean. .. fabulous spacious shower with Arran Aromatic products. Comfortable beds. Sora Roof bar was amazing, such views of York. The reception and bar staff were so lovely to us. I'll be back again with my friend and also my family. Highly recommend.

Superb

Pleasant stay.

Liked: The hotel and location were excellent. Security was good, you needed a card to move the lift. The room was big enough and beautifully decorated. We were in an accessible room so the bathroom was enormous. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The shower was lovely.
Disliked: The lighting in the room was very soft focus, great for relaxing but terrible for getting ready. There was no mirror at the dressing table, which meant I had to use the full length mirror near the door to do my hair and the lighting was really poor. The bathroom had no magnifying mirror so it made applying make up quite hard. The wet room also made the whole floor quite wet so had to use towels to wipe up the excess.

Quite a nice hotel but...

Liked: The Breakfast was very good. The Location of the hotel was nice and central for York city centre
Disliked: The room was quite darkly decorated with very poor lighting. Not good when getting ready to go out and for thr female guests putting on make up. The roof tarrace bar was not good for a quite drink. Saturday evening the music was so loud you could not hear yourself speak. Not catering for the senior guests staying!

Underwhelming.

Liked: The location
Disliked: The rooms were small, poorly lit and poorly designed. You couldn't see to put make up on. The bathrooms in the rooms lacked privacy and there was black mold in the bottom corners of the shower. There was very little space in the room, a poor excuse for a wardrobe and no comfortable seating. The previous occupants hair brush was still in the room. I had to remake the bed PROPERLY and the bed itself was uncomfortable. Frankly I've had better stays in a premiere inn without the added cost. That said the location was excellent and all the staff were excellent.
