Great place to stay for...

Liked: Trams just a mi utes walk from the hotel
Disliked: Food in the bar was not up to scratch. Fish finger sandwich had hardly any fish and the lettuce core was put in the wrap!

Good and worth the money...

Liked: Not much. Wouldn’t stay again.
Disliked: It’s become very tired - really needs new carpeting and painting. Breakfast awful - cheap ingredients, horrible breakfast room. Filthy.

A tired hotel (brand) that...

Liked: Excellent location to discover Leith and north-side of Edinburgh. Limited on-site car parking (free). Plenty of restaurants and cafes to eat within 15 min walk of hotel. Tram stop nearby. Lovely hotel exterior.
Disliked: The Malmaison brand is tired. The rooms are too dark with very limited lighting options. No fresh air as the windows are sealed (though a fan was provided). The pillows were poor and the quilt was thin. Very uncomfortable night sleep. The bathroom was dated, with painted lining paper in place of decorative wall finish. Shower was a waterfall shower with no way to move the showerhead --- simply style over substance. Just very poor and tired, considering the price of room per night. Malmaison used to be quirky and different -- now, just outdated and resting on its laurels. A hotel of this standard should exceed what your home has: it simply does not!

Liked: Out of the property seems really nice and historical but inside needs to renovation.
Disliked: Romms needs to be renovated.
