Unsatisfied Refried Bean

Disliked: The first room we were in had a mildew and cigarette smell. We immediately requested to change rooms. The second room they put us in was unclean. The only thing they cleaned prior to our arrival was the beds. There was a strong bean smell when you walked into the suite. The carpet in the living room looked unclean and dingy. In the bedroom, we found beans on the floor, residue from food on the nightstand, food stains on kitchen appliances, and crap on the toilet (which was discovered after a 3am bathroom break). After a 7-8hr drive, I did not have the energy to argue. The next day I spoke with the front staff and they sent someone up to clean the room. I was also advised to speak with booking.com to request adjustment to my bill for the unclean room resulting in an unsatisfactory stay. They also instructed me to speak with the general manager, but I was so disappointed and frustrated that I didn’t trust it to be a productive conversation. The housekeeper that came up seemed to had done a good job. Later, we found that there was still mess around the toilet and food residue on the nightstand. Most of the beans were cleaned up but some were missed and swept around to other parts of the room (we found them later). My mom stayed here as well and had similar complaints about the smell. I stayed her 5+ years ago and had a wonderful experience despite how dated the property was and that’s why I booked here. I will not let my memories overshadow my better judgement again. This was so unsatisfactory and I wish I could get my money back. Something nice: the beds were comfy, the mirrors allowed me to put my contacts in to see the crap under the toilet seat, and the morning staff were patient as I shared my complaints.
