Historic Hotel

Liked: This is a beautiful historic hotel with rooms overlooking splendid gardens. We received a complimentary room upgrade which was excellent. I loved the water dispensers and the biscuits. The breakfast was magnificent with something for every taste. We have had an evening meal in the past which was also superb and served in a Victorian conservertory. We have stayed here before and will do again. Excellent in every respect.
Disliked: The big wooden gates.

Sadly, Fawlty Towers vibes.

Liked: Comfy bed, good shower.
Disliked: The reception desk was deserted both when we tried to check in and when we checked out. Even more chaos and confusion even we arrived later to pick our room card up. The staff were welcoming and friendly when we finally got hold of someone, not sure if under resourced but not great. The car park looked like an abandoned waste ground with rubbish bins overflowing and badly lit. The hotel main reception is not signposted.

Superb

Liked: Room was really clean and spacious. Breakfast included was great value for money!
Disliked: The drinks prices at the bar were a little steep. It cost £11 for a glass of rosé with a splash of lemonade and nearly £5 for a small diet coke
